Missouri School Board Revokes 'George Floyd' 'Anti-Racism' Resolution - 'What Has It Really Done?'

A Missouri school board located in a more conservative area has opted to revoke multiple resolutions that were put in place in the fallout of the 2020 summer riots that followed the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. These resolutions include one ostensibly designed to "promote racial healing, especially for our Black and brown students and families."

According to The Blaze, the Francis Howell School District Board of Education in St. Charles County, Missouri, North of St. Louis, voted to rescind multiple resolutions automatically. However, the resolution that has garnered the most scrutiny is one that was passed in 2020 shortly after the riots.

The Francis Howell School District passed its "Resolution in response to racism and discrimination" which reads as a blatant virtue signal and an appeal to tamp down perceived racial tensions. It posits to "speak firmly against any racism, discrimination, and senseless violence against people regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, immigration status, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability." Which if they stuck to the first sentence would be laudable. However, it quickly jumps off the rails with the buzzwords of the 'woke' culture.

According to the text, these buzzword-laden statements include,

"We will promote racial healing, especially for our Black and brown students and families. We will no longer be silent. We are committed to creating an equitable and anti-racist system that honors and elevates all, but one that also specifically acknowledges the challenges faced by our Black and brown students and families."

Worse still, in what could be drawn from the written works of Ibram X. Kendi or other radical racial identitarian activists, the board wrote, "The FHSD Board of Education stands firmly against all acts of individual and systemic racism."

It continues, "We commit to becoming allies in the struggle to foster better understanding and a socially just community. We will openly talk, challenge, and confront racism."

And finally, the resolution embraces the popular leftist mantra of "diversity, equity, and inclusion," writing, "As a school board and district, we value each and every student, family, and staff member. We embrace our organizational responsibility to ensure that the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion are integrated into the culture, curriculum, policies, programs, operations, and practices of the FHSD district."

The Blaze reported that the reason given by officials to end these resolutions is straightforward. Newly elected board members rejected the messaging of terms like "systemic racism" which aren't clearly defined in the text. Board member Jane Puszkar told the outlet that the resolution wasn't effective, "What has it really done?" she asked. "How effective has it really been?"

Many of the new board members were elected in a large push by a conservative group, Francis Howell Families, which recruits board members who support "our Nation’s founding principles" and rejects "attempts to divide people by race, gender, or other immutable characteristics or to teach that those characteristics determine their destiny."
