The FBI's Clearly Not 'Helping The American People': Chuck Todd Admits That Durham Report Is Grounds For Major FBI Investigation, A New Church Style Committee Into Corrupted Federal Law Enforcement

NBC's host Chuck Todd, an unlikely ally over government malfeasance with Republicans, admitted live on air that the impact from the Durham report and the erosion of public trust in the FBI make him "feels like we're in the moment that we need a real Church Committee...like when the J. Edgar Hoover FBI clearly was no longer helping the American people, there was a moment — this feels like we might be in one of those moments."

Representative Dan Bishop (R-NC) happily embraced Todd's statement and observed that it was for this reason that the Republicans created the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. He wrote, "I pushed to create [The Weaponization Committee] bc the need for a new Church Cmte has never been clearer. I spoke to this on MTP post-Speaker’s race, but [Chuck Todd] seemed more concerned w/palace intrigue at the time. Chuck, I’m happy to come back on to discuss why/how we must fix the DOJ."

The Durham report exposed the politicization of the FBI and its lack of upholding professional standards when the bureau opened an investigation of then candidate Donald Trump in 2016 over ludicrous Russia collusion suspicions based on no credible evidence. The FBI used the debunked Steele Dossier to unethically obtain FISA warrants to monitor communcations by Trump advisers over such suspicions. Many Democratic politicans like Daniel Goldman (D-NY) have tried to downplay the effects of the report and pivot to already debunked stories about the DNC hack and Wikileaks.

Some Democrats, however, acknowledge the serious issues posed by this scandal. Robert Kennedy Jr. commented during an interview that "We need to apply rules across the board. We can't just say it is okay to shut up Donald Trump. It is okay for the CIA...to fix an election against him...now they [the CIA and the general intelligence appartus] are doing it right in front of us."

Other Republican lawmakers are uniting behind the pressing need for reform and restructuring the system in the fallout of the Durham report. Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) commented, "This is the most extraordinary fact I’ve come across so far [in the Durham report]. The primary source for the Steele dossier—the originator of the Russia collusion hoax—was Danchenko. The FBI tried to pay him *after* they figured out he was lying to them."

"One criticism [that Vance has for the report]: it needs to name more names. This report reveals criminal wrongdoing from our own government in an effort to destroy a sitting president," he added. "We need to know *who* did this, not just what they did...The report totally vindicates Trump. It was all a hoax. Now it’s time for justice and accountability" added Vance.

   Let it be so.
