NBC News Writes Shockingly Racist Tweet Comparing Migrants to “Trash,” Quickly Deletes It After Backlash

In a tweet sent Friday, NBC News compared the illegal immigrants who were flown to Martha’s Vineyard by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) to ‘trash.’

The tweet, which experienced considerable backlash from users, was later deleted by the news outlet, however, the internet is forever.

“Florida Gov. DeSantis sending asylum-seekers to Martha’s Vineyard is like ‘me taking my trash out and just driving to different areas where I live and just throwing my trash there,'” the tweet read.

NBC also added that Max Lefeld, a founding member of a refugee aid organization named Casa Venezuela Dallas, made the statement. NBC then shared the tweet with NBCLatino as well as the accompanying article.

The NBC article focused on the divisions between Venezuelan Americans on the border crisis and Gov. DeSantis’ decision to send migrants to the rich Massachusetts suburb. The original story, however, was overshadowed by the initial tweet.

In reaction to the tweet, one user stated, “After realizing this tweet made their political allies look horrific, NBC News deleted it.”

“I’m pro-deportation and I wouldn’t even call them trash,” stated another user with another adding, “Their unique like breakfast tacos as I was told.”

DESANTIS CONSIDERING SENDING ‘A FEW THOUSAND’ MORE ILLEGALS TO MARTHA’S VINEYARD

Democrats have had terrible messaging towards the Latino community to date as with First Lady Jill Biden comparing the community to “breakfast tacos” earlier this year.

“The diversity of this community — as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio — is your strength,” Jill Biden said, per The Texas Tribune.

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists released a statement condemning the remark arguing it showed: “a lack of cultural knowledge and sensitivity to the diversity of Latinos in the region.”

Democrat’s failures to connect with the Latino community have translated to the polls with Republicans increasingly closing the gap in support from the historically blue community in recent months, per NPR.

With economic issues and immigration becoming an important issue for Latino voters, it may just drive them to the polls for the GOP and leftist activists comparing migrants to ‘trash’ might just change voters’ minds as to what party really wants to solve the crisis on the southern border.
