New Details Reveal Democrat Connections to Trump’s Indictment Judge

The criminal indictment of the 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump by a Democrat district attorney who proudly campaigned for his office on his record of suing Trump is rightly regarded by many as a textbook case of political prosecution. The judge overseeing the case has not been spared from similar criticism as his daughter worked for the 2020 election of the Biden-Harris ticket against Donald Trump. Now New York state election records display that Juan Merchan, the judge overseeing the Trump case, has a history of donating to partisan causes and even donated to President Biden’s 2020 campaign.

The New York Post revealed that “Judge Juan Merchan, the jurist handling former President Donald Trump’s criminal case in Manhattan, donated $35 to Democratic causes in 2020, including $15 to President Biden’s campaign and $10 to a group dedicated to “resisting … Donald Trump’s radical right-wing legacy.” Federal Election Commission records show Merchan made three small-dollar donations within the span of two days in July 2020 through ActBlue, the Democratic Party’s preferred online fundraising platform.”

Judge Merchan also presided over cases against Trump Organization’s CFO, Allen Weisselberg, and some other close associates of Trump according to the Associated Press. Mr. Trump wrote the judge off as a Trump hater based on his conduct in those trials. Robert Barnes, a civil rights lawyer, similarly noted that this adverse history that the judge had with Trump was why he was picked. As Mr. Barnes stated the “[p]rosecutor [is] likely the source of such rigged judicial assignment through something called “related case” notices which would be an abuse of prosecutorial power. Recusal should be sought of Judge & prosecutor.”

Paul Sperry, an investigative journalist, similarly noted the news about the judge’s preference for Democratic causes and candidates. He wrote that the “New York state election records show Juan Merchan, the judge expected to preside over the Trump case, has donated to Democrat and Cuomo-appointed judge Rolando Acosta, the top judge on the appeals court.”

Mr. Sperry also revealed on Twitter that “Biden’s FEC” was trying to cover this up through censorship based on the allegation that these images of his donations contained the judge’s street address.

Mr. Sperry also reported that Trump was “weighing lodging a complaint w/ NY State Appeals to force Judge Merchan to recuse self based on ethical conflicts over his 2020 donation to Biden & daughter’s consulting work for Biden campaign + husband’s employment w/ Biden admin.”

As covered by the DC Enquirer, the judge’s daughter is a political operative for the Democratic party. According to the article that covered this material she “is the president and a partner of “Authentic Campaigns,” a company that works for Democrat candidates and worked on the Biden/Harris 2020 campaign. [The daughter]’s website features a quote from far-left Rep. Adam Schiff, saying, “We partner with our clients to build award-winning online programs for progressive campaigns.” From February 2019 to December 2019, Merchan worked as the “Director of Digital Persuasion” for “Kamala Harris for the People,” Breitbart News reported from her now archived LinkedIn account.”

The nature of the indictment against Mr. Trump is weak as even very left-wing sources admit. A senior correspondent for Vox admitted that “I’ve come to think that prosecutions and investigations that can fairly be characterized as politicized tend to share several of the following traits: They’re fishing expeditions — starting focused on one topic, and sprawling very far afield, often lasting years. They focus on obscure or technical matters. They resemble few previous prosecutions. They feature novel or contested legal theories. Investigators are internally divided on the case’s strength. They involve scrutiny and an investment of resources that would not have been put on anyone else. Those in charge of them have obvious political motives.”
