WATCH: New Mexico Governor Grisham HUMILIATES Herself On CNN Over Gun Ban – 'It's Not For The Police To Tell Me What's Constitutional Or Not'

It would seem that Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) has never heard of the Second Amendment as on Tuesday, attempting to defend the constitutionality of her recent outright gun ban in the Albuquerque area, the governor admitted that she's unsure if the order she issued is legal.

As previously covered by the DC Enquirer, Governor Grisham issued an emergency order on Friday suspending the constitutional right to carry firearms. This came right after she issued an executive order on Thursday that declared gun violence within the state a public health emergency.

The Cactus State governor appeared on ‘CNN This Morning’ with host Poppy Harlow, who did not give her an easy time. Immediately, Harlow began to question whether the emergency order put out by Grisham's office was legal, asking whether it would be “unconstitutional” to suspend the right.

In response, the New Mexican public official gave a shaky response, saying that they “will see” whether the order will work. She also got caught in her semantics, taking time to highlight that what’s happening in New Mexico is not a “ban” but instead a “pause” on the right to carry.

Harlow asked numerous hard questions for Grisham, voicing the concerns of many New Mexican residents. At one point, the elected official was asked, “Why do it if it can’t be enforced?”

"Well, that’s their opinion," Lujan Grisham responded. "They have no bold actions. They don’t have any plans for reducing gun violence, every single aspect in terms of preventing gun violence – funds, crime labs, more than $150 million for retention bonuses and recruitment of police officers."

“I’m focused on one thing: We have the third-highest gun-related injuries in the country, 90 percent higher than the national average,” she continued. “We lost 143 children between 2017 and 2021. It is unacceptable, and it calls for immediate and swift, and bold action. And frankly, the evidence bears out over and over again, fewer guns on the streets makes everyone safer."

“I’m focused on everyone’s constitutional rights, not just those the NRA says I should be focused on,” she claimed. She also said, “It’s not for the police to tell me what’s constitutional or not,” seemingly responding to the statements from numerous officers and sheriffs that they would not be enforcing the law.

"But we also have, governor, the Constitution of New Mexico and the Constitution of the United States, and you’re an attorney," Harlow said, asking, "Do you think you’re on solid constitutional ground here?"

Grisham replied, "Well, we’re going to see. I mean, look, I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t think I had the right. I have the right." Dissatisfied, the CNN host pushed harder, asking, “But where is the right? Where is the right?” to which Grisham stumbled, answering, “In the state of New Mexico, public heal – it’s a suspension, it’s not a ban."
