New Polling Reveals Trump's Easy Path To The White House Following Biden's Debate Disaster

A new poll released by Emerson College and sponsored by Democrats for the Next Generation found that President Joe Biden is losing in every single swing state to 45th President Donald Trump following his disastrous debate performance and amid calls for the 81-year-old Democrat to withdraw from the race.

According to the survey, Trump leads Biden in Pennsylvania by five points (48 percent to 43 percent), in Georgia by five points (47 percent to 42 percent), in Michigan by one point (45 percent to 44 percent), in Arizona by four points (46 percent to 42 percent), in Wisconsin by three points (47 percent to 44 percent), and in Nevada by six points (47 percent to 41 percent). Trump's average lead across these states is four percent, a margin that could secure 77 electoral votes and pave the way to the White House.

The Emerson College poll is consistent with recent polling showing Trump pulling ahead not only in swing states but also in the popular vote. A recent poll from The New York Times/Siena College, taken from June 28 to July 2 with 1,532 registered voters, shows President Biden down by six points nationally against Trump. Among likely voters, the Trump campaign enjoys the support of 49 percent of the electorate compared to Biden's 43 percent. Among registered voters, the 45th president has the support of 49 percent compared to the 81-year-old Democrat incumbent's support of only 41 percent, an eight-point difference.

The New York Times survey also highlighted a growing concern among voters about Joe Biden's age. A significant majority, 74 percent of the respondents, expressed that Biden was too old, while a staggering 59 percent of Democrats admitted their concerns about Biden's age, up eight points from before the debate. An additional 79 percent of independent voters, a key voting bloc that will determine who wins the presidency in November, also shared the view that the 81-year-old president was too old to serve another four years.

Despite these abysmal poll numbers for the Biden campaign, the president insisted in a letter to congressional Democrats and during an interview with MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday morning that he's not dropping out of the race.

"I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump," Biden wrote in his letter. "The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now. And it's time for it to end. And that is to beat Donald Trump. We have 42 days to the Democratic Convention and 119 days to the general election. Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us. It is time to come together, move forward as a unified party, and defeat Donald Trump."
