Explosive New Study Reveals Attractive Women Are More Likely To Be 'Right-Wing'

An interesting new study from Denmark has provided a scientific basis for what hundreds of popular articles and a swath of YouTube videos have said for several years: "Women with attractive faces were more likely to be right-wing."

The study published in Scientific Reports, was led by Stig Hebbelstrup and utilized computational neural networks to analyze thousands of faces using machine learning to predict the subjects' political ideology. Remarkably, this proved effective in sixty-one percent of cases.

Fascinatingly, the study found also,

"Most clearly we see that both male and female right-wing composites appeared happier than their left-wing counterparts. The male composites were not obviously differentiated based on masculinity. The right-wing faces, particularly for females, might be perceived as more attractive."

According to the industry website psypost.org, the researchers concluded, "Our results confirmed the threat to privacy posed by deep learning approaches. Using a pre-developed and readily available network that was trained and validated exclusively on publicly available data, we were able to predict the ideology of the pictured person roughly 60% of the time in two samples."

“We also provide the first demonstration that model-predicted ideology connects to independently classifiable features of the face. For females (though not males), high attractiveness scores were found among those the model identified as likely to be conservative. These results are credible given that previous research using human raters has also highlighted a link between attractiveness and conservatism.”

The study also observed a well-noted factor among left-leaning women: "Although rare, women whose faces showed contempt were more likely to be representatives of left-wing parties."

Turning Point USA's Charlie Kirk tweeted about the study with a write-up from Evie magazine. "A new study shows that good looking women are more likely to be right wingers. Angry and bitter women are more likely to be left wing. We already knew this"

The study (Rasmussen, S.H.R., Ludeke, S.G. & Klemmensen, R. Using deep learning to predict ideology from facial photographs: expressions, beauty, and extra-facial information. Sci Rep 13, 5257 (2023). https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-023-31796-1) was reportedly conducted using members of Denmark's parliament as a test group and left/right lean was determined based on party membership.

The AI-generated responses were also more accurate when the system was informed whether the subjects were male or female and didn't have to determine that itself.
