On Thursday, X owner and billionaire Elon Musk revealed what he believes is the real "incentive" for the Democratic Party to encourage illegal immigrants to enter the country through the open US-Mexico border, telling his 195 million followers that getting more voters is the main motivation behind the party's support for mass migration.
"The US Democratic Party as a whole has a massive incentive to bring in and legalize illegal immigrants, as they vote overwhelmingly Democrat," Musk wrote. "No grand conspiracy theory is needed. The simple incentive of winning elections explains why they won't even deport criminals who assault police officers on camera, because that would mean losing those votes." Musk pointed to comments made by Vice President Kamala Harris in recent years where she stated that, "An undocumented immigrant is not a criminal."
The Tesla CEO's comments came after House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) pushed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act through the lower chamber earlier this year. The legislation would require election officials to require American citizens to present documentation proving their citizenship and make states remove noncitizens from the voter rolls.
Some Republican officials have already taken action on the issue, with Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) announcing that the Lone Star State removed over a million ineligible voters from the rolls. From the over 1.1 million registrations that the secretary of state's office removed, 6,500 were noncitizens, over 457,000 were deceased individuals, over 463,000 were voters on the suspense list, over 134,000 voters who had responded to an address confirmation notice, over 65,000 who failed to respond to an address notice, and over 19,000 who requested that their voter registration be canceled.
Musk's highlighting of the Democrat tendency to support illegal immigration and allow migrants to vote in American elections coincides with his endorsement of President Trump earlier this month. The SpaceX founder endorsed Trump during their much-watched X Spaces discussion and explained that he believes that the country is at a "critical juncture." "I think we're at a fork in the road of the destiny of civilization, and I think we need to take the right path, and I think you're the right path," Musk said. "I think you [Trump] are the path to prosperity, and I think that Kamala is the opposite."
Coinciding with his support for President Trump, Musk created a political action committee, America PAC, to back candidates that support meritocracy and individual freedom earlier this year. He rejected reports that the PAC would be a way for him to donate to the Trump campaign but added that he would support any candidate who stands for merit and freedom. "Yeah, it's ridiculous. I am making some donations to America PAC, but at a much lower level, and the key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy & individual freedom. Republicans are mostly, but not entirely, on the side of merit & freedom. The intent is to promote the principles that made America great in the first place. I wouldn't say that I'm, for example, MAGA. I think America is great. I'm more M-A-G, make America greater."
