Former New York Police Department (NYPD) commissioner Bernard Kerik expressed concern about Democrats launching an assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump on Monday evening, following a raid on his home in Mar-a-Lago.

Trump’s Florida house had been raided Monday night by FBI agents in search of documents that were allegedly not returned to the National Archives by Trump after leaving office in 2020. Fifteen boxes containing classified boxes were taken by the FBI from Trump’s office and safe, according to The New York Times.

Kerik reportedly explained on Newsmax TV the dangers Trump may be facing in the future.

“If you remember back in 2016, right before he got elected, I was in Washington D.C. I was at a couple of different social events, and I hear people talking, they said the Democrats want this guy so bad that they wouldn’t put assassination behind it,” he said. “And I’m gonna tell you something. they’ve tried impeachment, they’ve tried another impeachment, they’ve tried one investigation after another.”

“This is about one thing: this is about stopping him from running in 2024,” Kerik continued. “And I’m gonna tell you something, I’m not into conspiracies, I’m not into anti-government rhetoric. This is the first time in my lifetime that I would say I am deathly afraid for Donald Trump. I would not put assassination behind these people.”

The former lawman also explained the legality of raids and their use as last resort for government agencies that fear the destruction of evidence — or evasion of government agents. Trump, however, was allegedly already in contact with the government about the documents in question.

The FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) representatives reportedly declined to comment about the operations at Mar-A-Lago as of the time of this writing.

One of Trump’s sons, Eric, told Fox News he informed his father of the raid taking place at Mar-A-Lago and the search was in relation to presidential documents.

Now, the country watches in anticipation to see if the raid obtained anything significant or if is just the latest rendition of the Democrats’ witch hunt against the former president, with more smoke and mirrors.
