Obama Panicking As Trump Dominates In 2024 Polls, Makes Regular Calls To White House

Former President Barack Obama is reportedly making regular calls to the White House and the Biden campaign to attempt to come up with a strategy to counter presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump's momentum in the 2024 polls as the 62-year-old fears a resurgent Trump will put the final nail in the coffin of Obama's legacy in a second term.

According to The New York Times, Obama has "always" worried about Biden losing his reelection bid and has been making regular calls to White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients to discuss messaging and strategy. During a private lunch between Obama and Biden earlier this month, the 44th president told his former VP that he needs to be more aggressively attacking Donald Trump to make the November election a referendum on the 45th president.

Democrats are even bringing out former President Bill Clinton to help energize the Democratic base and prepare Biden for a hotly contested presidential race that could see the vote split between five candidates, with third-party candidates Jill Stein and Cornel West on the ballot alongside independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Obama and Clinton will hold a fundraiser at the Radio City Music Hall in New York on Thursday. The three men will also host a virtual event that Democrats nationwide can join. With President Clinton, Obama, and Biden joining forces to take on Trump, the Republican nominee will have a battle on his hands in the coming months, though his success in the polls could lead to a stunning success in the war for the White House.

According to the Real Clear Politics polling average, Trump enjoys a 1.6 percent lead over the 81-year-old incumbent nationally, and the Republican leader dominates Biden in most swing states. A recent poll from Bloomberg News/Morning Consult found Trump beating Biden by five points in Arizona, seven points in Georgia, two points in Nevada, six points in North Carolina, and being tied in Pennsylvania and Michigan. According to the poll, Biden leads Trump by one point in Wisconsin. However, Trump's overall lead in the swing states is four points.

While some recent polls have shown Biden gaining traction in the 2024 race, Trump's electoral chances have increased substantially, which is likely fueling Obama's increasing worry. Third-party candidates will play a major role in November, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s recent announcement of Nicole Shanahan, a left-leaning Silicon Valley lawyer, as his running mate will pull more Biden voters from the Democrats. As Kennedy Jr. gets on the ballot in both swing states and more Democrat-leaning states, the likelihood of the electoral map opening up increases. Despite the various legal cases against him, Trump is in a far stronger position than he has been at any point in his political career, and with third-party candidates set to take away Democrat voters from the Biden-Harris ticket, it's no wonder why Obama is in a panic.
