WATCH: Oliver Anthony Shares What's Next, Thanks Fans After 'Rich Men North Of Richmond' Hit

On Monday, little-known country singer Oliver Anthony, who went viral last week after his hit song 'Rich Men North of Richmond' became the top song on iTunes, published a video explaining his next steps and thanking fans for their outpouring of support in recent days.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Anthony saw a massive crowd turn out for an event at the Morris Farm Market in Currituck, North Carolina where he was welcomed by thousands of supporters who came to hear the anthem that has resonated with so many.

Before his performance, the Virginia factory worker began by thanking everyone who came out, explaining that in June he had previously played at the venue with only 20 people. "That's the beautiful part of this country though, even an idiot like me can make something happen," he said. "If I can do it, you can do it."

“Before we start singing, and I mean we, 'cause I hope y'all are gonna be singing too. I just had something I felt compelled to share with you," he said before opening his Bible.

“This is in Psalms, Psalms 37, 12 - 20. The wicked plot against the righteous and nash their teeth at them. But the Lord laughs at the wicked for he knows their day is coming. The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright," Anthony continued. “But their swords will pierce their own hearts and their bows will be broken. Better the little that has righteousness than the wealth of many wicked. For the power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous. The blameless spend their days under the Lord's care and their inheritance will endure forever. In times of disaster, they will not wither and in days of famine, they will have plenty. But the wicked will perish.”

Following an eventful weekend, Anthony published the video "Moving Forward" on his YouTube channel where he thanked Morris Farm for hosting him and the thousands of people who came out to hear him sing. The Virginia factory worker explained that people flew in to come to see him, explaining that he "signed and took pictures a good four hours after the show."

"It wasn't like people just came up and shook my hand. They came up and told me about the battles that they've been dealing with, depression and suicide, and money. You know, those are real problems," the country singer explained.

He went on to explain that the song wasn't some kind of "masterpiece" but that the emotions in the song already exist in the hearts of many Americans. "My question to you is when Oliver Anthony is long gone and forgotten about, what can you do in your own life to maintain this energy, this positivity, this unity that I see among people like I have never seen before," he said while driving. "What are the next steps to make life better for people? What can you do for your neighbor? There used to be such a strong sense of community in this country and you still see it a lot in small-town American but even there it's dying out. Things just change too quickly these days, you know?"

Despite this trend, Anthony explained that Americans are focusing too much on "hate" and instead Americans should be grateful for modern luxuries. He also emphasized helping others in everyday life in order to overcome that hate.

"We're all so disconnected from each other. We need to find a way to take this energy from this anomaly of a song," Anthony said before explaining that it's not him who made this song so popular but that it is a reflection of the struggles that Americans are going through.

"Find a way to start fixing those problems. Find a way to start having good conversations with people who live around you. That's all I want out of this," Anthony concluded.

It is clear that Anthony is speaking directly to the problems of everyday Americans. His advice should be taken to heart and hopefully, he will be seen touring across the country in the coming months.
