Acclaimed film director Oliver Stone recently spoke with Russel Brand where he revealed that he regretted voting for President Joe Biden in 2020, saying that “it seems that he’s dragging us stupidly into a confrontation with a power that is not going to give,” referring to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Stone made his comments on the Friday episode of ‘Stay Free,’ where he got onto the topic when discussing the production of his 2014 documentary ‘Ukraine on Fire.’ The film covers the 2014 “coup d’etat” of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych that was aided by the United States government, as well as other eras within the Eastern European state, per IMDb.
"You have to look at the reasons for this war, and whenever you do, the Americans like to simplify and say it’s a question of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. That’s very simplistic and very black-and-white," Stone said. He noted that “the origins of this war in the coup d'état of 2014 which was sponsored and supported thoroughly by the United States, it was a very deep plan to penetrate the Russian federation.”
The Oscar-winning director also talked about how there is a “neoconservative movement who started the war in Iraq” that has remained “deep inside our government.” He named several figures within the government, but didn’t directly link Biden to the issue, instead saying "Biden is an old Cold Warrior, and he really hates the old Soviet Union which he confounds again with the Russian Federation, which is not communist."
Once the topic of President Biden came up, Stone had much more to say on the topic of the Democratic leader. He slammed Biden’s utter lack of leadership during the crisis in Ukraine and said that if the country continues its course it will be facing a “potential World War III.”
"If we don’t stop this, what Biden is doing, this guy is – I voted for him – I made a mistake, I was thinking he was an old man now that he would calm down, that he would be more mellow and so forth, I didn’t see that at all," he said. "I see a man who maybe is not in charge of his own administration. Who knows?"
It’s clear to anyone that the path that Biden is taking in the war in Ukraine is not at all the best one. His leadership has been such a catastrophe that even those that voted for him are having to rethink their vote. If enough people wake up to the mess that is the Biden administration, the American people won’t have to deal with four more years of this abhorrent administration.
