Sitting down with Tucker Carlson for 'Tucker On X', Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán didn't mince words when he told Carlson that the 45th President of the United States and 2024 GOP frontrunner Donald J. Trump is the only "man who can save the Western world," from the horrific specter of World War III. The interview with Orbán, Hungary's unabashedly Christian, traditionalist conservative PM since his Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Alliance party took power in a supermajority in the National Assembly in 2010, was hailed and shared by Trump on his Truth Social platform.
Orbán and Trump, both leading populist, conservative nationalist political movements, have enjoyed a cordial relationship, with Trump endorsing Orbán during his last election in 2022, according to The New York Times. Around that time, Trump welcomed Orbán to his Bedminster, New Jersey home, saying in a press release, “Great spending time with my friend. We discussed many interesting topics — few people know as much about what is going on in the world today. We were also celebrating his great electoral victory in April.”
Speaking with Carlson, Orbán said that the American people must "Call back Trump: That's the only way out," according to Newsmax, "Call back Trump, because you can criticize him for many reasons – I understand all the discussions – but, you know, the best foreign policy of the recent several decades belongs to him."
The Hungarian PM cited the historic Abraham Accords in the Middle East as a prime example.
"If he would have been the president the moment of the Russian invasion started, it would be not possible to do that by the Russians," he said.
"So Trump is the man that can save the Western world and probably the human beings in the world as well," the prime minister continued.
Orbán extolled Trump as a peacemaker, "He did not initiate any new war." He explained that this was due to Trump's willingness to be diplomatic even with geopolitical foes. "He treated nicely the North Koreans, and Russia, even the Chinese," Orbán said. "He delivered the policy that was the best one for the Middle East, the Abraham Accords. So that was a very good foreign policy."
He asserted that denials of the peace and security wrought by Trump's foreign policy are simply the denial of facts. "He's criticized that he's not educated enough to understand the world: This is not the case; facts count," he added, "And his foreign policy was the best one for the world in the last several decades I have seen."
Commenting on the interview posted to X, Orbán wrote, "The Hungarian recipe: there are certain things which are more important than “me”, than my ego. Family, nation, God. Thank you,@TuckerCarlson!"
