Outnumbered 10 To 1: Nine Teenagers From Mob of Forty Arrested & Charged For Savagely Beating Three U.S. Marines

In San Clemente, California, a mob of nine teenagers were arrested by sheriff's deputies after they savagely assaulted three United States Marines on Saturday. The assault reportedly involved approximately forty people in the attack against the three marines over the Memorial Day weekend.

According to The Daily Mail, the attack shared online in a now-viral video showed a group of "self-identified US Marines" being attacked by a mob at approximately 10 P.M. on Friday night. Orange County Sheriff's deputies told the outlet that the men sustained minor injuries.

KCAL-News reported that two of the three victims said they were walking along the pier when confronted by a group of more than 15 teens at approximaetly 9:50 PM.

According to a statement from the local sheriff's department, the three men are, in fact, Marines. They wrote,

"On arrival, deputies found two male United States Marines injured from the assault. The Orange County Fire Authority rendered medical aid; however, the Marines declined to be medically transported to the hospital. During the investigation, a third male United States Marine was discovered to have been assaulted during the incident.

On May 30, Orange County Sheriff’s Investigators identified and arrested four male juveniles and one female juvenile believed to be involved in the incident. They were booked into the Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of violating CPC 245(a)(1) – assault with a deadly weapon (non-firearm). "

San Clemente Sheriff's Department Sgt. Frank Gonzalez said, "This is considered an assault with a deadly weapon because of the amount of suspects we are investigating. The weapons that were used were their feet while these victims were on the ground. So, regardless if the victims choose prosecution or choose medical attention the sheriff's department is going to investigate this to the fullest and try to determine who the suspects are."

One of the Marines speaking with KCAL, Hunter Antonino, said they were "stomped on" and "beat up" by a circle of assailants. The Marines alleged that the fight began when the teenagers were told to stop lighting up fireworks.

According to Daily Mail, he said, "They were lighting off fireworks, they were being belligerent and obnoxious and annoying other people, so I went up to them and told them to stop."

He added that his group warned the teens they were Marines, "so they would leave, but they didn't."

Antonino fears he may have a concussion, "My face still has blood on it," he told reporters. "It wasn't cool at all."

Redstate's Jennifer Van Laar reported four of the assailants were charged with misdemeanors and five with felonies.

San Clemente Mayor Chris Duncan called the attack "tragic." He said, "This is San Clemente, Marines are always welcome here, always going to be celebrated, always taken care of, and that is why this is so particularly tragic."

Duncan said, "They typically don’t take juveniles into custody for misdemeanors. They will go through the process out of custody."
