Trump Says He'll 'Have Fun' At The 'TRIAL OF THE CENTURY' As His Lawyers Meet With Jack Smith On January 6th Indictment

The legal team of 45th President Donald J. Trump is expected to meet with the office of special counsel Jack Smith Thursday with the prospect of another indictment looming for Trump related to his efforts to uncover irregularities and flaws in the 2020 election.

According to The New York Times, citing three people "familiar with the matter," the federal prosecutors under Smith are moving closer toward indicting Trump for his actions leading up to and on January 6th and subsequent statements regarding the election.

Earlier reports from ABC News indicated that Trump's attorneys arrived at Mr. Smith's offices in Washington D.C. at approximately 10 a.m. EST. President Trump received what is popularly known as a "target letter" indicating that he is likely to face charges stemming from Smith's investigation into allegations of "election interference" on Sunday, July 16th, as previously reported by DC Enquirer.

Trump posted a statement to Truth Social two days later writing, "HORRIFYING NEWS for our Country was given to me by my attorneys."

"So now, Joe Biden's Attorney General, Merrick Garland, who I turned down from the United States Supreme Court (in retrospect, based on his corrupt and unethical actions, a very wise decision!), together with Joe Biden's Department of Injustice, have effectively issued a third Indictment and Arrest of Joe Biden's NUMBER ONE POLITICAL OPPONENT, who is largely dominating him in the race for the Presidency. Nothing like this has ever happened in our country before or even close."

Trump and other prominent Republicans have characterized the potential indictment as the penultimate form of election interference. Indeed many commentators, such as Timcast's Tim Pool have suggested that the end goal could be to bar Trump from the 2024 ballot akin to the prosecution of Couy Griffin in New Mexico which subsequently led to his removal from county office under the 14th Amendment's insurrection clause. This made Griffin the first person barred from holding office under the 14th Amendment since the post-civil War era.

In a video posted to YouTube on Thursday, Pool told viewers, "As it goes they're saying Trump may be indicted today over January 6, and if he is they are going to say Insurrection therefore he is removed from the ballot then who's left standing Ron DeSantis. So maybe there is a path for Ron and it's not through the traditional means."

"But welcome to Modern Civil War. I do find it beautifully ironic that a provision made post-civil War to stop insurrectionists from being in government would be used as a weapon which could lead to a Civil War."

Benny Johnson expressed a similar view in a tweet, "There’s a reason why the DOJ is now indicting Trump for the J6 'insurrection'. That reason is the 14th Amendment. The 14th Amendment says that no person who has engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States can serve in federal office. This is what this false charge is about."

In a Truth Social post on Wednesday, Trump seemingly relished the opportunity that a full trial could bring to reveal the truth of the 2020 election. He wrote, "We’ll have fun on the stand with all of these people that say the Presidential Election wasn’t Rigged and Stollen. THE TRIAL OF THE CENTURY!!!"
