President Trump Scores MAJOR Win After The International Association of Fire Fighters Refuses To Back Kamala Harris

On Thursday, the International Association of Fire Fighters revealed that it would not support either 45th President Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election. The announcement comes after the Teamsters, another prominent labor organization that has mainly supported Democrats in the past, refused to endorse the Democratic candidate.

"Today, the IAFF Executive Board, by a margin of 1.2%, voted to not endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election," IAFF General President Edward A. Kelly explained in a statement. "Over the past year, the IAFF took unprecedented steps to hear our members' views on the candidates and the policy issues that matter most to them."

"As we have over our 106-year history, the IAFF will continue its work to improve the lives of fire fighters and their families. The IAFF Executive Board determined that we are better able to advocate for our members and make progress on the issues that matter to them if we, as a union, are standing shoulder-to-shoulder. This decision, which we took very seriously, is the best way to preserve and strengthen our union," Kelly stated. "We encourage our members - and all eligible voters - to get out and make their voices heard in the upcoming election."

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the IAFF isn't the only union that has refused to endorse in the 2024 election. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters refused to either candidate last month after the Teamsters leadership was unsatisfied with both candidates' answers to their questions on how they would fight against big business.

However, the rank-and-file members were more willing to pick a side. According to an electronic member poll conducted by the organization from July 24-September 15, 59.6 percent of their membership preferred President Trump, while 34 percent preferred Vice President Harris, with 6.4 percent wanting another candidate. A phone poll from September 9-15 found similar findings, with 58 percent preferring Trump, 31 percent preferring Harris, six percent remaining undecided, and five percent saying they didn't know who they would vote for.

The Teamsters endorsed President Biden in the 2020 race but have endorsed Republicans in the past, including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush. O'Brien's appearance at the Republican National Convention in July and a closed-door meeting with Trump at Mar-a-Lago earlier this year sparked speculation that the organization would endorse the GOP nominee. In addition to O'Brien's coziness with Trump, the Teamsters made a $45,000 donation on January 25 to the Republican National Committee convention fund.

According to The Hill, the organization waited far longer to announce its decision on an endorsement than any of America's other major unions, which all threw their support behind Harris, including the United Auto Workers, National Education Association, Service Employees International Union, and AFL-CIO. Both the IAFF and the Teamsters' unwillingness to endorse Kamala Harris shows the Republican ticket's growing strength with union voters and could be enough to change the outcome of the election on November 5.
