Pro-DeSantis PAC's Own Polling Shows Trump Crushing Him In Iowa, Memo Advises Him To Reverse Course And Defend Trump

The Never Back Down Political Action Committee, a pro-Ron DeSantis PAC has allegedly produced polling information that presents a nightmare scenario for the Florida governor. The poll shows DeSantis suffers a devastating loss to 2024 GOP frontrunner and 45th President Donald Trump by eight points in a head-to-head matchup and a 21-point loss in a full ballot.

The National Pulse's Raheem Kassam posted the findings to X App Thursday.

According to National Pulse, Chairman of the PAC Matt Wells reportedly "lambasted the U.S. South and Southerners, bemoaning the 'climate of racism and bigotry' and the “hate and distrust emanating from the people,'” in comments unearthed by The National PulseWells is best known for recently disparaging MAGA conservatives as “degenerates” and telling leftist reporters he wouldn’t "piss on Donald Trump if he was on fire."

Wells reportedly wrote the,

“‘Bible Belt’ is frayed and the buckle is highly tarnished and the people need true spiritual revival. The one saving grace I cling to is Ted Cruz…”

CBS News reported Thursday that a memo from the Super PAC ahead of the upcoming Milwaukee debate advised DeSantis to "hammer" Vivek Ramaswamy and defend Trump.

CBS reported that the memo, dated August 15th, was directed to "NBD" or Never Back Down and laid out four "basic must-dos" for DeSantis referred to in the document as "GRD."

"1. Attack Joe Biden and the media 3-5 times.

2. State GRD's positive vision 2-3 times.

3. Hammer Vivek Ramaswamy in a response.

4. Defend Donald Trump in absentia in response to a Chris Christie attack."

The memo gave four "potential orchestra-pit moments" to DeSantis with one of them being, "Take a sledge-hammer to Vivek Ramaswamy," and another being "defend Trump when Chris Christie attacks him." It even suggested the nicknames "Fake Vivek" or "Vivek the Fake."

The memo even provided a memorizable line that responds favorably to Trump's decision to skip the debate stage, "Trump isn't here so let's just leave him alone. He's too weak to defend himself here. We're all running against him. I don't think we want to join forces with someone on this stage who's auditioning for a show on MSNBC," the memo said.

Fascinatingly, the memo seems to drive team DeSantis toward assuming the mantle of a Trump heir apparent, a role many ascribe to Ramaswamy due to his unwavering support of Trump to date.

The memo advises DeSantis to explain, "Trump's drama pitted brother against brother, friend against friend. He's got so many distractions that it's almost impossible for him to focus on moving the country forward."

"We need someone who is going to take the torch and carry it to the next chapter. I'm the only one on this stage who will do that, who can do that, and who will keep the movement that Donald Trump started going."

How DeSantis responds to the polling will reveal much. Will he attempt some sort of rapprochement with pro-Trump Republicans or continue to lash out?
