Professor Forced To Take Free Speech Training After Failing Student Over Using The Term 'Biological Women'

A University of Cincinnati professor is being reprimanded with free speech training after she assigned a student a zero on an assignment for using the term ‘biological woman’ in their paper.

The student, Olivia Krolcyzk, was upset when she received the feared zero points out of twenty on her Women’s Gender Studies in Pop Culture final project, and even more upset when she discovered it was because of her use of the “exclusionary” term “biological woman.” The professor, Melanie Nipper, wrote in her note that using that term “further reinforces heteronormativity,” explaining that such a term was not allowed.

Krolcyzk took to her TikTok page to vent her frustration and expose her ex-professor for the ridiculous act. The video quickly went viral, attracting millions to the misdeeds of the professor and prompting the university itself to release a response.

“Please note that this is to be considered a formal reprimand for your actions. A copy of this letter will be placed in your permanent records,” the internal document obtained by The Cincinnati Enquirer read. “It is also understood that any other violations of UC policy may be subject to further disciplinary actions up to and including termination. You are reminded that as an unrepresented, unclassified ‘at will’ employee your employment may be terminated with or without cause.”

Nipper attempted to contest the reprehension against her, claiming that her “restriction on harmful speech” was “necessary to ensure a safe learning environment in the course discussions and for the pedagogical purpose of teaching introductory WGSS theory.” Nipper also said that it was “necessary to educate her regarding inclusive language to ensure a safe learning environment for other students in the course discussion boards.”

The topic that Krolcyzk decided to do her final assignment on the changes to female sports over time and the fight to ensure a safe space for females to compete. In modern times, when mentally ill men castrate themselves to compete against women in sporting events, it would be essential to use the term ‘biological women’ in her assignment as a distinction between the two. Krolczyk herself even noted so, saying, “How am I supposed to do my project if I can’t use the term ‘biological women?’” in her TikTok video.

It seems odd that Nipper would even allow the topic to go through with such a major aspect of it being the invasion of transgenders into the once female-only space, but the professor saw a vision of a project that included men in women’s spaces.

It’s a positive change to see a college stand behind a student wanting to uphold traditional, moral understanding and not just siding with their hyper-liberal professor. Of course, Nipper will still be teaching there, but now she will have to cower in fear of the term “biological women,” unable to fail those who simply perceive gender in the way reality intended it to be.
