'Radical Assault On Judicial Independence': Republicans SLAM Biden's 'Unconstitutional' Proposal To Overhaul The Supreme Court

After President Joe Biden proposed three radical changes to the Supreme Court on Monday, Republicans didn't hold back when condemning the president's plan to overhaul the judiciary branch to ensure that the Democrats continue to undermine the court and eventually regain control.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, President Biden, citing the recent decision by the justices in Trump v United States and recent accusations from left-wing groups claiming that billionaires are influencing the justices, demanded that Congress approve a Constitutional amendment reversing the court's immunity decision, imposing an enforceable ethics code on the court, and putting 18-year term limits on the justices.

In response to the radical proposals, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Biden's proposals are the next step to "delegitimize" the Supreme Court after years of Democrat undermining.

"President Biden’s proposal to radically overhaul the U.S. Supreme Court would tilt the balance of power and erode not only the rule of law, but the American people’s faith in our system of justice," Speaker Johnson wrote on X. "This proposal is the logical conclusion to the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats’ ongoing efforts to delegitimize the Supreme Court. Their calls to expand and pack the Court will soon resume."

"It is telling that Democrats want to change the system that has guided our nation since its founding simply because they disagree with some of the Court’s recent decisions," Johnson added. "This dangerous gambit of the Biden-Harris Administration is dead on arrival in the House."

Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) pointed out the hypocrisy of the Democrats' plan to impose term limits on the court when legislators are free to serve for however long they want. "In other words, a career politician wants to set term limits on another branch of government because the Court hasn't ruled in his favor," Gooden wrote. "The irony!"

Article III Project's Mike Davis explained on X that Biden's "unconstitutional" plan for the Supreme Court would destroy the judiciary. "Our mentally incompetent President is making unconstitutional demands for more senior (conservative) Supreme Court justices to step aside, ignoring our Constitution's lifetime tenure that ensures judicial independence," Davis wrote. "Our corrupt President is making unconstitutional demands for an illegal 'ethics' regime to use bogus pretexts, like patriotic flag-flying by a conservative justice's wife, to selectively disqualify Supreme Court justices in his way."

"The Biden-Harris proposed radical assault on judicial independence is the gravest threat imaginable to our Republic. Biden and Harris are now plotting to destroy another branch of government simply because it is in their way," he added.
