WATCH: Radical Democrats Turn On Biden After Calling Laken Riley's Murder Suspect 'Illegal'

Before President Joe Biden's State of the Union address on Thursday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) confronted the president and demanded that he say the name of Laken Riley, the young college student who was allegedly murdered by illegal immigrant Jose Antonio Ibarra late last month. Biden did end up mentioning Riley, though getting her first name wrong in the process and condemning the illegal immigrant who killed her. Biden's reference to Ibarra as "illegal," however, has garnered significant pushback from progressive politicians, including many members of the radical 'Squad' and even former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

"Lincoln Riley, an innocent young woman who was killed by an illegal, that's right," the president said while holding up a pin with her name on it that adorned the lapels of many Republicans. Riley's parents refused to attend the State of the Union as guests, something that Biden did not realize when he turned his attention to the gallery and said, "To her parents, I say, my heart goes out to you having lost children myself, I understand."

Biden's surprise off-script moment upset both sides of the aisle. Many conservatives pointed out that he didn't get Riley's name correct, while many progressives slammed the president for his use of the term "illegal." Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was one of Biden's first critics, writing on X during the speech, "Let me be clear: No human being is illegal."

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) also spoke out against the president, writing, "No human being is illegal. Just like we should not be implementing Republican policy, we should not be repeating Republican rhetoric." Illinois Democrat Rep. Chuy Garcia (D-IL) also criticized the president, writing, "As a proud immigrant, I'm extremely disappointed to hear President Biden use the word 'illegal.'"

While some Democrats were forceful with their rebuke of the 81-year-old Democrat, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi seemed to take a less harsh approach on CNN, telling Dana Bash, "Now he should have said undocumented, but that's not a big thing. Okay?" Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took a victory lap after her confrontation forced Biden to go off-script. "They are melting down because I forced Biden to go off script, and he finally told the truth and admitted Laken Riley was murdered by an ILLEGAL!!!" she wrote on X. "Yes, that's right, Joe. ILLEGAL ALIEN!!!!"

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Laken Riley was found dead on the University of Georgia's campus in late February. One of the young woman's friends reported her missing after she did not come back from a jog near the school's intramural fields. Authorities eventually found Riley without a pulse. They attempted CPR but were unable to resuscitate her. The young nursing student had "visible injuries" that led to the authorities suspecting foul play and launching an investigation, eventually settling on the 26-year-old Ibarra as the main suspect. It was later revealed that Riley was beaten to death with an object that "seriously disfiguring her body … by disfiguring her skull." Following the beating, Ibarra then dragged her body to a secluded area.

During a press conference, UGA Police Chief Jeffrey L. Clark explained that Ibarra is not a citizen of the United States. He has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer. Authorities in New York previously had custody of Ibarra for endangering a minor. Despite this, the NYPD released him onto the streets before Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could issue a detainer.

Democrats' response to Biden's off-script moment speaks volumes. They are far more concerned about protecting an alleged murderer than showing actual concern for Laken Riley's family. Progressive politicians have clearly outlined their priorities, and in this instance, a young American woman's life is given less attention by those on the left than the term used to describe her murderer.

Nancy Pelosi is more concerned that Joe Biden called the criminal alien that murdered Laken Riley an “illegal” than she is about Laken Riley’s death.
