Rand Paul Puts Fauci On Notice in Intense Hearing, Says He Will Force Fauci to Divulge Potential Conflicts of Interest

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) pressed Dr. Anthony Fauci in a tense hearing Wednesday, claiming the Biden health advisor has a lot to worry about when the Republicans win big league in the coming midterms.

“You refuse to answer whether anyone on the vaccine committees gets royalties from the pharmaceutical companies. I asked you last time, and what was your response? We don’t have to tell you.” Senator Paul remarked. “We’ve demanded them through the Freedom of Information Act, and what have you said? ‘We are not going to tell you.’ “Paul added.

Paul has pressed the question of whether NIH employees are receiving royalties from pharmaceutical companies for a while now. In June, he sent a letter to National Institute of Health (NIH) director Lawrence Tabak repeating much of the same.

“But I tell you this, when we get in charge, we’re gonna change the rules and you will have to divulge where you get your royalties from, from what companies and if anybody on the committee has a conflict of interest, we are going to learn about it. I promise you that.”

Fauci responded by obfuscating, claiming he did not understand Paul’s clear line of questions. He claimed these are “not my committees” later on. But the damage was done and Paul’s line of questioning was persuasive.

This isn’t the first time Rand Paul has called out Dr. Fauci for shady practices. Paul announced back in February that the Republicans will take major action when they win the Senate in the upcoming midterms.

As the DC Enquirer reports, Senator Paul said the following on a Februrary episode of Lisa Boothe’s podcast:

“[Fauci] is trying to avoid culpability… He was funding risky and dangerous research…He will do everything possible… to make sure the truth will never come out… It is important that we do not let another virus leak out of a lab… That is why, if we win in November, if I’m chairman of a committee, if I have subpoena power, we’ll go after every one of his [Dr. Fauci’s] records. Those scientists will all come in. We will have an investigator go through this piece by piece because we do not need this to happen again.”

The American people need answers — sooner rather than later. Our nation and its future hinges upon government transparency. The Government works for us.
