Rand Paul Saves Fellow Senator From Near Death Experience On Capitol Hill

On Thursday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who is an ophthalmologist by trade, burst into action after fellow Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) nearly died after choking on some food while eating lunch at Capitol Hill. Paul reportedly ran over to Ernst and performed the Heimlich maneuver to prevent her from choking, thus saving her life.

"Whoa: Rand Paul used the Heimlich maneuver on Joni Ernst at Senate lunch today, she was choking on some food, per attendees. She's OK, senators say," explained POLITICO Congressional Bureau Chief Burgess Everett on X/Twitter. In response to the incident, Ernst took to X/Twitter to show her appreciation for the Republican from Kentucky. "Can't help but choke on the woke policies Dems are forcing down our throats," wrote the Iowa senator. "Thanks, Dr. [Rand Paul]!"
