Ready Player 2? Democrat From 2020 Primary Returns To Challenge Biden

Marianne Williamson, once a primary candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 who later supported Bernie Sanders after the Democratic convention has announced her candidacy for president in 2024. She intends to once again challenge the now-incumbent President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination.

Reporting from The Daily Mail indicates that Williamson has confirmed her candidacy after tweeting an anticipatory message alluding to “an important announcement” to be released Saturday.

The New York Times Bestselling author of many self-help books brought controversy to the 2020 race when she claimed that her Democratic opponents wouldn’t triumph over President Donald Trump’s alleged “dark psychic force” of “collectivized hatred.”

WILL BIDEN RUN IN 2024? DEMOCRATS ARE UNCERTAIN AS SOME DEVELOP PROPOSE SEVERAL CANDIDATES AS PLAN B

According to The Mail, she told interviewers Wednesday,

“If I run, clearly there are forces within the Democratic Party who will be trying to invisible-ize me. I think they would have an easier time trying to invisible-ize me if I run third party,”

“If I do run and I run as a Democrat, I will be more inconvenient to the people who need to be inconvenienced,” she added.

Williamson has already established her enmity with Biden after the 2020 primary concluded, calling his victory a “coup,” when both trailing Democratic candidates Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and now-embattled Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg threw in behind Biden in lockstep. The move foreclosed any possible path to the nomination for Bernie Sanders whom she had endorsed after dropping out before the Iowa Caucuses.

In all reality, a combination of ‘Super Delegates’ and the near acclamation of Biden by his opponents following victories in South Carolina and on Super Tuesday had already effectively killed Sanders’ campaign.

In a lengthy statement posted to Twitter on Friday, Williamson wrote,

“We need to begin a new chapter in American history, with enough of us willing to have a meaningful conversation about what we need to end now and what’s struggling to be born.

What needs to end is an era of corruption brought about by our second Gilded Age, an era in which corporate profits were placed before the safety, health and well being of people and planet.

What needs to be born is an era in which we push back against such institutional abuse, return our government to one “of the people, by the people, and for the people,” and replace soulless economic values with humanitarian values that honor us all and the earth on which we live.

Other generations before us have done it. Now it’s our turn.”
