'This Is A Blatant Attack': House Republican Andy Biggs Makes Move To Defund 'Lawless' Fani Willis Following Trump Indictment

On Friday, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) filed legislation to defund Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after she indicted leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump and 18 others for their actions following the 2020 election.

Biggs, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, filed the legislation titled the Withholding Investments from Lawless Litigators in States Act or WILLIS Act last week following Trump's surrender to authorities and subsequent release of his mugshot.

The act would ensure that “no Federal funds may be awarded or otherwise made available to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office" while also rescinding all funds previously allocated to Willis' office, as reported by The Washington Examiner.

“The indictments from the Fulton County Grand Jury are some of the weakest and most ridiculous I’ve ever seen,” Biggs said. “President Trump and the 18 others mentioned were indicted for mundane activities like sending a text message, making a phone call, reserving a conference room, and tweeting. This is a blatant attack on American freedoms. Our national debt is at an all-time high. We cannot afford to have our federal government funding corrupt DA Offices’ quests for national fame through political witch hunts.”

Trump specifically was hit with 13 charges including "Violation Of The Georgia Rico (Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations) Act," "Solicitation Of Violation Of Oath By Public Officer," "Conspiracy To Commit False Statements and Writings" and "Conspiracy To Commit Forgery in the First Degree," as well as a number of other charges.

Biggs isn't the only Republican taking action to hold Willis accountable, however.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Georgia State Sen. Colton Moore sent a letter to Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) earlier his month calling for a special session to consider impeachment of the Fulton County DA.

“We must strip all funding and, if appropriate, impeach Fani Willis,” State Senator Moore said in a statement, as reported by Breitbart.

“As a Georgia State Senator, I am officially calling for an emergency session to review the actions of Fani Willis,” he explained. “America is under attack. I’m not going to sit back and watch as radical left prosecutors weaponize their elected offices to politically target their opponents.”

Moore's action is the first step in potentially launching an impeachment if an emergency session were to be called. Under Georgia law, Governor Kemp has the ability to unilaterally call a special session, or the state legislature, with 60 percent support, could also force an emergency session.

Moore has seemed to deploy the latter strategy in an effort to go around Gov. Kemp who has already vocalized his opposition against Trump's attempts to claim voter fraud took place in the state during the 2020 election. In addition, Kemp has refused to call a special session on the matter.

It appears like Republicans are finally waking up and willing to take action against these Democrat prosecutors who are politicizing the law to stop Trump from obtaining a second term in the White House.
