RNC Starts Registering Voters at Gas Pumps as Gas Prices Hurt Consumers, Arizona Republicans Look to Pick Up House Seats

As gas prices reach a national average of $4.252 per gallon–and in some areas reaching over $6 per gallon–the Republican National Committee is launching an initiative to register voters at gas stations.

The initiative began in the battleground state of Arizona with RNC volunteers and staff registering voters at gas stations in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area–where gas prices have soared to over $4.50 per gallon.

Arizona, a state which Joe Biden narrowly won in 2020, has several highly competitive races this November. The governor race, which will likely be a face-off between Republican frontrunner Kari Lake (a Trump endorsee) and Democrat frontrunner and Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, is highly contested with polls showing a back and forth between Hobbs and Lake.

The Arizona US Senate race has incumbent Democrat Mark Kelly facing off against a swath of Republicans. The three frontrunners are Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich, Businessman Jim Lamon, and former Thiel Foundation President Blake Masters

Arizona also has two potential pickups in US House Districts. Due to redistricting, two currently held Democrat seats have become heavily Republican. Congressional District 2, currently held by Tom O’Halleran, and Congressional District 6, currently held by Ann Kirkpatrick (who is retiring after her current term), are both rated as lean Republican flips.

The RNC’s Arizona Communications Director Ben Petersen told Fox News that “Arizonans are frustrated with paying the record-high gas prices we’ve seen recently; this is an issue that affects almost every single Arizonan. There’s no doubt that everyone is feeling the pain at the pump, so a gas station right now may be the very best possible place for one of our volunteers to have a conversation with someone and get someone signed up to vote.”

RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel tweeted “Don’t like the #BidenGasHike? Vote! Republicans are coming to gas stations nationwide to register voters! #LeadRight.”

High gas prices, coupled with a plethora of other Biden blunders, have further boosted Republican hopes of sweeping victories come this November. A recent Rasmussen Poll shows Republicans having an 11% advantage over Democrats in generic ballot polling. With these victories, hopefully, Republicans will be able to stop the Biden administration from further crippling the nation.
