Secret Service Reveals Cocaine Wasn't The First Illicit Drug Found In The White House

It would seem that cocaine is not the only illegal substance that has managed to find its way into the White House during the Biden administration. The Secret Service has now revealed that not once but twice Marijuana has been found in the West Wing in 2022.

On Thursday, the Secret Service announced that they would not be able to find the perpetrator responsible for bringing cocaine into the West Wing of the White House, as previously covered by the DC Enquirer. However, during that investigation, the Secret Service did reveal to Congress in a classified briefing that pot had been found a couple of times.

The Secret Service had found “small amounts of marijuana” in both July and September of last year, according to a spokesperson for the Secret Service. It is not a crime to possess less than two ounces of the substance in D.C., but it is not allowed on federal property like the White House.

"No one was arrested in these incidents because the weight of the marijuana confiscated did not meet the legal threshold for federal charges or D.C. misdemeanor criminal charges, as the District of Columbia had decriminalized possession," the Secret Service spokesperson said to Fox News. "The marijuana was collected by officers and destroyed."

Reportedly the amount that had been found was “less than .2 ounces of marijuana in both instances.”

The revelation that this is not the first time drugs have been discovered in the White House has caused Republicans to bring into question both Biden’s and his administration's character. Of course, security for the White House is also becoming a notable concern. Having numerous different occasions where an individual was able to smuggle in illicit substances does not make officials confident in the building's security.

"This probably is an area that should have had video surveillance, especially since this is not the first time that drugs have been found on the White House property since Biden has taken office," Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said on the matter. "There should have been implementations made to ensure security at the White House already before this cocaine appeared."

"There are 182 lockers in that foyer and currently ... locker number 50 where the cocaine was found, that key is missing," she said. "There were more than 500 people who went through the West Wing during the weekend of when this substance was found when the cocaine was found in the White House, and none of those people who have come through are classified as suspects."

"We do not know how many were tourists, individual citizens, or staffers, and they currently are not looking any further into those more than 500 people who entered that foyer of the West Wing during that weekend," she continued. "Instead, they are quickly wanting to close this investigation and move on to the next Biden crime crisis."

The first report that cocaine was found in the West Wing was already enough to send everyone into a frenzy, but the revelation that this isn’t the first time drugs were found is almost too much. There’s clearly something up with the White House at the moment. Whether it’s the guests that the president and his staff are bringing in, the lackluster security, or something else, it’s clear there’s a need for improvement.
