Late last month, Walmart announced that it will be closing its last two remaining stores within the city of Portland, Oregon as the city deals with increasing rates of crime as anti-police policies from local leaders have empowered criminals.
Both of the stores are set to close on March 24th and they are doing so due to not meeting financial expectations, potentially due to increased theft, according to Fox12.
“The decision to close these stores was made after a careful review of their overall performance,” a Walmart spokesperson said. “We consider many factors, including current and projected financial performance, location, population, customer needs, and the proximity of other nearby stores when making these difficult decisions. After we decide to move forward, our focus is on our associates and their transition, which is the case here.”
For locals, the shutdown of the stores will have a major impact on their ability to shop.
“Safeway is the go-to-store if I have to but that’s three times the price I would spend here,” resident Amanda Pahl told Fox12. “What are we going to do? You got to go further, then you have to spend gas money. Might as well pay for it at Safeway at this point.”

The contrast between the liberal strongholds and other states like Texas, which actually values law and order, was pointed out by Governor Abbott on Sunday:
“All Portland Walmart stores to permanently close in late March,” wrote Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX). “This is what happens when cities refuse to enforce the rule of law.”
“It allows the mob to take over,” he explained, adding, “Businesses can’t operate in that environment, and people can’t live in it.”

As progressive prosecutors continue to dominate the justice systems of cities like Portland, residents suffer. The lawlessness present in the city of Portland has put residents at risk, however, it is up to them to actually vote for new candidates who are willing to make a change. They get what they vote for.
