Suspected ISIS Terrorists Arrested, Allowed To Roam Free In US After Being Released By Biden Border Officials

A new report revealed that eight foreign nationals from Tajikistan, who were allowed to roam the country freely after crossing the southern border illegally last year, are suspected to have ties to the Islamic terrorist organization ISIS-K. Federal authorities arrested the foreigners over the weekend in a coordinated operation with the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that took place in New York City, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.

According to NBC News, the eight men were being tracked by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force for months to track their activities. While the FBI's terrorism task force was able to keep tabs on the men, the eight men were able to cross the border illegally and pass a background check without being held by border officials. One of the men utilized the CBP One app, which is used by migrants to claim asylum and book a hearing.

The investigation into the men revealed that one of the migrants was talking about bombs, leading a source to tell The New York Post, "Remember the Boston Marathon [bombing]? I'm afraid something like that might happen again or worse."

"Over the last few days, ICE agents arrested several non-citizens pursuant to immigration authorities," the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) explained in a statement. "The actions were carried out in close coordination with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Forces. The individuals arrested are detained in ICE custody pending removal proceedings. As the FBI and DHS have recently described in public and partner bulletins, the U.S. has been in a heightened threat environment. The FBI and DHS will continue working around the clock with our partners to identify, investigate, and disrupt potential threats to national security."

The failure of the Biden administration to catch these eight men when they crossed into the United States via the southern border proves that the situation along the border is not only a humanitarian disaster but a national security threat as well. The terrorist group that the men were linked to, ISIS-K, has carried out brutal terrorist attacks in recent years, including a mass casualty shooting in a theater in Moscow earlier this year that led to the deaths of over 140 civilians.

During congressional testimony earlier this year, FBI Director Christopher Wray warned about the potential threat of a terrorist attack by ISIS-K in the United States. "Our most immediate concern has been that individuals or small groups will draw twisted inspiration from the events in the Middle East to carry out attacks here at home," he told the House Appropriations Committee. "But now, increasingly concerning is the potential for a coordinated attack here in the homeland, akin to the ISIS-K attack we saw at the Russia concert hall a couple weeks ago."
