Sylvester Stallone Gives Heartwarming Tribute After 'Rocky' Co-Star Passes Away At 83

On Thursday, Sylvester Stallone posted a heartwarming tribute to the Oscar-award-winning actor and 'Rocky' co-star Burt Young after he passed away at the age of 83 earlier this month on October 8th in Los Angeles.

Per Fox News Digital, Young's manager, Lynda Bensky, explained that "Burt was an actor of tremendous emotional range. He could make you cry, and he could scare you to death."

"But the real pathos that I experienced was the poignancy of his soul. That's where it came from," she added. As of this report, Young's cause of death remains unknown.

Young, who is an acclaimed actor with scores of roles under his belt, was most known for playing Rocky Balboa's brother-in-law, Paulie. "I made him a rough guy with a sensitivity," Young said about the role. "He's really a marshmallow, even though he yells a lot."

Young was recruited by Stallone for the role, with the actor explaining in a 2017 interview that he didn't even audition for the film, according to The New York Times. "[Stallone] kneels down next to me," Young recalled. "He says, 'Mr. Young, I'm Sylvester Stallone. I wrote Rocky,'" — and then, Mr. Young said, he added, "You've got to do it, please."

"He's trying to twist my arm," Young added.

Stallone took to Instagram to post a tribute for his friend and co-star where he wrote, "To my Dear Friend, BURT YOUNG, you were an incredible man and artist, I and the World will miss you very much...RIP."

Young appeared in various films and television shows throughout the 1970s, including appearances in "The Killer Elite," "Convoy," "Chinatown," "The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight," "Cinderella Liberty," and various other productions.

Young served in the Marines, where he learned boxing. He went on to pursue boxing with a 17-1 record before he began his pursuit of acting.
