The Trump campaign slammed Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate pick, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), on Tuesday, asserting that his governorship has attempted to reshape the Midwestern state into California. Walz, who gained the support of some of the most far-left members of the Democratic Party, beat out Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA), who was seen by many as the superior choice given Pennsylvania's importance in the presidential race.
"It's no surprise that San Francisco Liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast wannabe Tim Walz as her running-mate – Walz has spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State," Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. "While Walz pretends to support Americans in the Heartland, when the cameras are off, he believes that rural America is 'mostly cows and rocks'. From proposing his own carbon-free agenda, to suggesting stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars, and embracing policies to allow convicted felons to vote, Walz is obsessed with spreading California's dangerously liberal agenda far and wide."
"If Walz won't tell voters the truth, we will: just like Kamala Harris, Tim Walz is a dangerously liberal extremist, and the Harris-Walz California dream is every American's nightmare," she added. The Trump campaign has already used many of Walz's past policy pushes as attacks in advertisements with some of Walz's most progressive policies being making Minessota a refuge for children to get transgender surgeries, his support of defunding the police, and his support of requiring schools to put tampons in boys bathrooms.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung noted that Walz was supported by the most radical Democrats in Congress, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Rep. Alexandria Ocascio Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). "Under the Kamala-Walz ticket, Ilhan Omar will be considered for a cabinet position, like Secretary of State or Secretary of Defense," Cheung wrote.
During a Fox News interview, Leavitt explained that if Americans want to get an understanding of what a Harris-Walz America would look like, all they would have to do is look back to the Black Lives Matter riots that engulfed Minneapolis in flames in 2020. The Trump campaign has also taken aim at comments Walz made advocating for Minessota cities to become sanctuary cities to allow illegal immigrants to live in Minesota.
Vice President Harris' decision to choose Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate shows that she is doubling down on her progressive radicalism. If elected, the Harris-Walz ticket would be the most radical administration in America's history.
