'Nonsense': Ted Cruz Takes AOC To School On Twitter Over The Racist History Of The Democrats

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) absolutely demolished Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in a Twitter thread after the liberal congresswoman tried to push the idea that the Republican Party was the more racist of the two parties.

The exchange started when Cruz responded to a tweet from a user writing that he would’ve been the first to filibuster the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act. Cruz countered, writing, “Nonsense. That shameful filibuster was led by Democrats—your party. My party—the Republicans—proudly voted for the Civil Rights Act in much higher percentages than the racist Dems.”

AOC then replied to Cruz’s tweet, writing, “Why don’t you go ahead and tell people what happened to the parties after that, Ted.” And put simply, Cruz responded.
The Lone Star State senator responded with a seven-tweet-long list of the different racist measures that the Democratic Party has fought for and the Republican Party has fought against. These include issues such as Jim Crow laws, slavery, the Civil Rights Act being filibustered, filibustering school choice, Trump providing African Americans with the lowest unemployment and poverty levels ever seen for the group, and so much more.
“And to add to all that, the Dem party aggressively supports open borders—which has led to the deaths and brutal assaults of thousands of Hispanics, and [AOC] somehow can’t seem to find her White pantsuit to cry over their suffering,” the Texas senator wrote, finishing up his gargantuan reply.
Unsurprisingly, AOC has yet to respond to Cruz’s tweets outlining the vast history of racism within the Democratic Party that stretched from the founding of the party to now. AOC seemed to want to push the great party swap theory, the idea that the parties swapped sides after the civil war, so it was actually the Democrats who freed the slaves.

Even Twitter owner Elon Musk commented on the exchange, calling it “The kind of interaction that makes this platform so unique & entertaining!” adding a smiling and popcorn emoji to his tweet.
Cruz’s tweets show very clearly the same Democratic Party that voted for slavery, the same Democratic Party that enacted the Jim Crow laws, and the same Democratic Party that filibustered the Civil Rights Act exists today. Even while modern Democrats will do everything in their power to preach the idea they are more racially sensitive and helping minorities, it’s clear with a history like theirs they’re not.
