On Wednesday, 62 state House members of the Tennessee legislature signed a letter calling for the Vanderbilt University Medical Center to stop all surgical operations currently pending for transgender procedures following revelations of the center’s procedures.
“My colleagues and I in the Tennessee General Assembly are alarmed by recent reports from the Daily Wire detailing the surgical mutilations of minor children at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC),” the letter began.
This is a time in which elected leaders must boldly lead and speak on behalf of the people.
I’ve been joined by my esteemed @tnhousegop colleagues in formally requesting that Vanderbilt Medical halt all gender transition surgeries on minors.

“While those 18 years and older are recognized as legal adults and free to make decisions in their best interests,” the statement continued, adding, “it is an egregious error of judgment that an institution as highly respected as Vanderbilt would condone (and promote) harmful and irreversible procedures for minor children in the name of profit.”
Earlier this month, Matt Walsh exposed the Vanderbilt center for its operations. In 2018, when the transgender clinic opened, Dr. Shayne Taylor stated that gender transition surgeries were a “big money maker” because they required repeated follow-up appointments with doctors.
BREAKING: My team and I have been investigating the transgender clinic at Vanderbilt here in Nashville. Vanderbilt drugs, chemically castrates, and performs double mastectomies on minors. But it gets worse. Here is what we found. Let's start at the beginning.

Vanderbilt then told staff that if they had any conscientious or religious objections to the operations, then they would be “problematic” and that they’re would be “consequences” for not going along with the center’s ideas, according to the Daily Wire.
To enforce this on personnel, the center created “Trans Buddies” which were trans activists that would accompany children to appointments and monitor doctors for “unsafe” behavior.

Walsh also uncovered evidence of double mastectomies being performed on teenage girls and the granting of hormone drugs to children as young as 13.
“The Vanderbilt Pediatric Transgender Clinic’s practices qualify as nothing less than abuse,” the legislators wrote in response to Walsh’s findings.
“Further, we are appalled that these reports demonstrate threats by Vanderbilt personnel to take adverse actions against employees who are conscientious and religious objectors to genital disfiguring and double mastectomies of children,” the letter explained. “Tennesseans across our state have demanded a swift response and a call to action. We agree that these revelations require the legislature to act immediately.”
“We, the elected representative body of the state of Tennessee,” the letter concluded. “ask members of the VUMC Board of Directors to take immediate action by halting all permanent gender transitioning surgeries being performed on minor children.”
The VUMC Board of Directors has 10 days to respond to the letter signed by 62 state representatives so that the statesmen can decide their next steps: “Your response will determine our steps in the coming weeks, as well as the action we will take when the Tennessee General Assembly convenes January 10, 2023.”
It is good to see that legislators are finally willing to use political power to put an end to these operations on children. More states across the country need to do the same.
