Texas A&M Campus Sees Huge Christian Revival Event With Over 120 Baptisms

The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi campus saw a massive Christian revival that had over 1,000 students in attendance and baptized over 120 of those.

The event was held on August 31st and organized by the New Life Church of Corpus Christi in what they called ‘One Night.’ According to the Christian Post, the event has been done yearly for the past eight years, being on the college campus for the past two years.

The event saw a notable increase in attendance, going from 600 attendants and 51 baptisms in 2022 to the nearly doubled numbers this year. A notably impressive part is the campus only houses around 10,800 students, equating to roughly ten percent of the student body being in attendance at the event.

New Life Church Young Adults Pastor Tarik Whitmore commented on the event and his excitement for it, saying, "From the very beginning of worship, it was clear that something significant was happening because it was just, it was so powerful.” He also pointed out that there were many unfamiliar faces in the church in attendance that were “lifting up the name of Jesus.”

"For young people, it's one thing for them to do that in a comfortable, familiar context like the Sunday morning; it's another thing for them to do that at their college outdoors in front of their peers," he said.

The church has also seen increased attendance since the event with Whitmore saying that the small groups of students in the church have seen considerable growth. A recent event for the church had around 100 attendants, up from the usual 20-50 that they’ve seen for years.

"Whether it is in a small group setting, or a corporate setting, or even a large event, it's very simple: we are worshiping, we are communicating the Gospel," explained Whitmore.

Nights like these serve as a unifying moment for followers of Jesus Christ as the United States continues to see a massive decline in those who practice religion, particularly in the younger generations. While 120 baptisms may not seem like a lot in a Christian revival for the whole country, doing so in a single place and a single night is nothing short of massive.
