‘They Are Behaving As If They Are Losing’: Mark Halperin Says There Is ‘Tension In Democratic Land’ About Harris

Political analyst Mark Halperin said Tuesday that there is growing tension within the Democratic Party as the 2024 election draws near.

During a livestream of “2WAY TONIGHT,” Halperin claimed that Democrats are not just battling Republicans in the upcoming elections but also navigating internal divisions that could undermine their chances. Halperin pointed out that this isn’t just the view of Republicans looking to capitalize on party missteps, it’s a sentiment that’s rippling within the Democratic Party itself.

“A lot of tension in Democratic land because they’re behaving as if they’re losing, I’m just telling you if that’s the view of Democrats, too. Not just the media, not just Republicans. Trump campaigns behaving like they’re winning. And Democrats say that’s spin, they’re just spinning you ,” Halperin said.

Halperin further noted that early voting trends, while still preliminary, paint a worrisome picture for the Democrats.

“Democrats today want you to think that they’re winning. So when they lose, they can claim the election was stolen. Maybe, but they do think they’re winning. And they’re not the only ones who think they’re winning. Not that this is the election of foreign collusion. But if it were today, Trump would win and that the early vote is very ominous so far. So far for the Democrats,” Halperin continued.

Jake Tapper revealed Monday on CNN that data from pollster Nate Silver indicates former President Donald Trump would likely win if the 2024 election were held today. Democrats are increasingly worried as Vice President Kamala Harris struggles to gain support from key groups, including black men and Hispanics, in critical swing states.
