On Monday evening, X/Twitter, Tesla, and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that he would be going to the US-Mexico border to see the crisis on the southern border firsthand.
Musk announced the move on X/Twitter in response to a video showing hundreds of migrants heading north through Mexico via train to enter the United States, more specifically the small town of Eagle Pass, Texas.
"I spoke with Rep Tony Gonzales tonight – he confirmed that it is a serious issue," Musk wrote. "They are being overwhelmed by unprecedented numbers – just hit an all-time high and still growing!"
"Am going to visit Eagle Pass later this week to see what’s going on for myself," the billionaire announced.
Musk will be touring Eagle Pass with Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) who has been on the border in recent weeks examining the influx of migrants.
"It's time to lead, follow, or get out of the way," Gonzales explained in a Monday press conference. "House Republicans are leading, and it's time for Joe Biden to get out of the way. If he gets out of the way, we can solve this border crisis."
"Everyone who is crossing between a port of entry is coming in illegally," the Republican explained. "They should not be rewarded. They should not be rewarded with work visas. They should not be rewarded with free bus rides and plane tickets everywhere. There has to be repercussions."
It is important to note that while Rep. Gonzales calls for action from Joe Biden, he has failed to act in Congress. "Kettle, meet Tony Gonzales. He is the only Texas Republican who doesn't support border security legislation, claiming it is 'anti-immigrant' yet wants to score political points off a crisis he helped create. Just 1 of the many reasons [The Texas GOP] formally censured him."
Musk also reposted footage from New York City residents being arrested after attempting to block migrant buses on Staten Island with the caption, "This is a severe crisis."
As reported by the Washington Examiner, illegal border crossings in the month of August hit the highest number in history with 304,162 encounters by Customs and Border Protection.
The crisis at the southern border is getting out of control as hundreds of thousands enter the country every month and small Texas towns like Eagle Pass are overrun. As Joe Biden fails to act, Americans of all stripes are seeing the dangerous effects of the crisis on the southern border.
