Trump Demands Republicans Pass Bill Requiring Voters Prove Citizenship - 'The Only Way They Can Win Is To CHEAT'

On Tuesday, 45th President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to demand that House Republicans pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. This legislation would require voters to show "documentary proof of United States citizenship" when they register to vote in federal elections. Trump stated that Democrats are opposed to the legislation because they want to "cheat" in the upcoming November election.

"Republicans must pass the Save Act, or go home and cry yourself to sleep," Trump posted to his social media platform. "Non citizen Illegal Migrants are getting the right to vote, being pushed by crooked Democrat Politicians who are not being stopped by an equally dishonest Justice Department. Our whole voting system is under siege. Harmeet and David, go to court and get this stopped, NOW."

"The Dems can't win on their policies, the only way they can win is to CHEAT," he wrote. "They do it at every level of government, and they do it well. That's how they get an incapacitated moron like Joe Biden elected. Get tough RNC (Michael W!), Speaker Johnson, and all State and Local Republican politicians. The Justice Department is CORRUPT and won't do a thing to help. They have no shame!"

"All I can say is that if I'm elected President, we will pursue Election Fraudsters at levels never seen before, and they will be sent to prison for long periods of time. We already know who you are. DON'T DO IT! ZUCKERBUCKS, be careful!" President Trump added.

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, House Democrats and the Biden administration are both working to block the bill from passing, claiming that it would make it harder for citizens to register to vote given it's documentation requirements. House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) has reportedly been encouraging her colleagues to vote against the legislation, arguing that the bill would "prevent Americans from registering to vote with their drivers' license alone" and make a passport the "only acceptable standalone form of identification."

The Biden administration put out a memo on Monday encouraging Democrat lawmakers to vote against the legislation. "The Administration strongly opposes H.R. 8281, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act. It is already illegal for noncitizens to vote in Federal elections-is is a Federal crime punishable by prison and fines," the White House explained. "The alleged justification for this bill is based on easily disproven falsehoods. Additionally, making a false claim of citizenship or unlawfully voting in an election is punishable by removal from the United States and a permanent bar to admission."

While both the White House and Democrat leadership in the House are trying to stop the bill from passing the lower chamber, some hope remains that some Democrats see the danger of not mandating citizenship documentation. Earlier this year, dozens of House Democrats joined Republicans to ban noncitizen voting in Washington, D.C.. This could mean some party members are willing to defect from their leadership and protect American elections.
