Scarborough Says Fox News Has Abandoned Trump For DeSantis 2024

Joe Scarborough, co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” said Monday that Fox News has begun to move away from “the Trump train,” and decided to side with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) for the upcoming 2024 GOP primary contest.

Donald Trump is “really showing signs of weakness out there when you talk about fundraising; when you look at his candidates,” Scarborough said, according to Mediaite.

With the former Commander-in-Chief potentially gearing up to announce his candidacy for the Republican nomination this Fall, the GOP primary field is beginning to shape up, with Trump seen as the de facto leader.

DeSantis, however, has also been seen by many as a potential front runner, given his ability to tackle issues relevant to Republican voters and his eloquent attacks on President Joe Biden, Democrats, and the media.

Scarborough added that Fox News has boarded the “DeSantis express” and begun to throw support behind him in their coverage. While Fox News has often supported Trump, it seems with the upcoming 2024 race those alliances may not be set in stone.

In the past, the former president enjoyed a cordial relationship with Fox. More recently Trump has attacked it on multiple occasions and cooled on the NewsCorp entity entirely.

Following the 2020 election, he tweeted Fox News forgot, “what made them successful, what got them there…They forgot the Golden Goose.”

“Fox News daytime ratings have completely collapsed,” he continued. “Weekend daytime even WORSE. Very sad to watch this happen.”

Irrespective of who Fox News chooses to back for 2024 if other GOP candidates decide to run against Trump, the country will likely end up with a heated battle for the future soul of the Republican Party.
