Trump DOMINATES Biden In Key Swing State, Wins Independents By 20 Points

On Thursday, a new poll from Fox News showed leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump handily defeating President Joe Biden in a one-on-one matchup in Georgia. The Peach State, which Trump narrowly lost in 2020, will be pivotal to the upcoming 2024 election to determine who will occupy the White House for the next four years.

The poll, which was taken from January 26-30 with a margin of error of three points, found that over half of voters, 51 percent, said they would support Trump in November while only 43 percent said they would support Biden. Trump also dominated among independent voters who favored the former president by 20 points, 51 percent to Biden's 31 percent. While Trump is dominating amongst independents, Republicans are also flocking to Trump with 91 percent support. Biden also has 91 percent support among members of his own party.

The Fox News poll also found Trump with an impressive share of black voters at 23 percent support compared to Biden's 71 percent. In 2020, Trump only secured eight percent support from the black community compared to Biden's 92 percent.

Biden has also begun to struggle with younger voters, a key voting bloc for the Democratic Party. Among poll respondents below 35, Trump is winning by seven points. In a hypothetical five-way matchup between Trump, Biden, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, and Jill Stein, Trump still dominated the state. From those polled, 45 percent supported the 45th president while 37 percent supported Biden, Kennedy got eight percent, West received three percent, and Stein only got one percent.

"Given that the Democrats won major U.S. Senate races in 2020 and 2022, Trump's strength in this poll is somewhat surprising," says Republican pollster Daron Shaw, as reported by Fox News. "We can blather on (correctly) about how 'anything can happen,' but the reality is Biden may want to shift his focus and precious resources away from Georgia and onto other potential battleground states, such as North Carolina."

While Biden is struggling to win a state critical to his 2020 election, the Democratic Party is beginning to see the writing on the wall. Democrat activists in the state have complained that the national party is not making Georgia a priority in 2024. "What we're hearing is, it's not, like, first tier," said Black Voters Matter Fund co-founder Cliff Albright, per The New York Times. "So that's a little disappointing but we don't know exactly yet what that means. But some early indications are that it's not going to get top-level prioritization."

As Trump's path to 270 becomes increasingly clear with Georgia in his column, it will allow him more flexibility to focus on other swing states like Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. According to the Real Clear Politics polling average, Trump currently dominates Biden nationally by 1.8 points. The 2024 election will be close, but Georgia's shift towards Trump will certainly make it easier for America First policies to return to the White House.
