On Wednesday, Trump lawyer Alina Habba predicted that presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump would "destroy" Biden in the upcoming June 27th debate on CNN.
"I'm excited to see it. I'm glad he accepted the challenge," Habba said. "I would have preferred that it be authentic, not scripted, because I think one of the main issues that we're seeing right now is whether he has the mental capability to be even considered — and I'm talking about Biden, obviously."
"I can't wait for [Trump] to call him out on everything he's doing against him because he can't beat him, and I want an answer," she continued, in reference to the various legal cases against Trump. "I want to know what makes it OK, how they can say no one is above the law but his son is. And I'm dying to hear the answers to those questions."
"I think the American people are — and God knows President Trump has not been the one that's been — afraid," Habba explained, per Newsmax. "I'd also like to know how much medication they're going to need to put him on to puppeteer through this debate, but we'll all be watching clearly. Hopefully, CNN has some dignity left and will not have an unfair advantage to Biden. But like I said, even with that, you and I both know that President Trump will destroy him."
As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Trump accepted the two debate challenges proposed by President Joe Biden on June 27th and September 10th, with CNN and ABC News moderating , respectively. Trump, however, wasn't satisfied with just two presidential debates, posting on Truth Social that he had accepted a debate invitation from Fox News on October 2nd moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
"Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that I hereby accept debating Crooked Joe Biden on FoxNews," Trump wrote. "The date will be Wednesday, October 2nd. The Hosts will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Thank you, DJT!"
The Trump Team has called on President Biden to participate in at least four debates, with Trump campaign advisors Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita writing to the Biden campaign that they would like to have a debate in June, July, August, and September in addition to the vice presidential debates. "With the soaring inflation of Bidenomics costing America’s hardworking families at the grocery store and at the gas pump, with our border being totally overrun, with chaos at home, chaos across the world, chaos on our college campuses, we should have one debate per month," Trump's campaign advisors wrote.
Trump has repeatedly said that he would debate Biden "anytime, anywhere, and anyplace," the Biden campaign has taken the Republican leader up on his offer by ensuring the debates will not have any live audience and that they are moderated by outlets that hosted both a Republican primary debate in 2016 and a Democratic primary debate in 2020.
"Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020, and now he wants to debate me again. Well, make my day, pal. I'll even do it twice. So let's pick the dates, Donald. I hear you are free on Wednesdays," Biden said in his challenge, referencing the Wednesday recess in Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's (D) case against Trump.
Following Biden's viral video post on X, CNN offered to host the first debate on June 27th. Biden wrote, "I've received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27th. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place."
According to Brooke Singman, Trump reportedly said, "I'll be there," and said he's "looking forward to being in beautiful Atlanta." The debate will have no live audience, and the moderators have yet to be determined. The debate will air live on CNN, CNN International, CNN en Espanol, CNN Max, and CNN.com.
The second debate, hosted by ABC News, was also scheduled for September 10th. President Biden wrote on X, "I've also received and accepted an invitation to a debate hosted by ABC on Tuesday, September 10th. Trump says he'll arrange his own transportation. I'll bring my plane, too. I plan on keeping it for another four years."
In response to the CNN and ABC News debates, Trump wrote on Truth Social, "It is my great honor to accept the CNN Debate against Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST PRESIDENT in the History of the United States and a true Threat to Democracy, on June 27th. Likewise, I accept the ABC News Debate against Crooked Joe on September 10th. Thank you, DJT!"
