Trump Makes A Move Against Jack Smith That Could Upend His Entire Case

On Sunday morning, leading 2024 Republican candidate and 45th President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to voice his concern over the potentially biased jury that he would receive if his Special Counsel Jack Smith's case on the 2020 election were allowed to continue in Washington, D.C. In response to this, Trump revealed that he has asked that the judge be recused and that the venue be changed.

"NO WAY I CAN GET A FAIR TRIAL, OR EVEN CLOSE TO A FAIR TRIAL, IN WASHINGTON, D.C," Trump began. "THERE ARE MANY REASONS FOR THIS, BUT JUST ONE IS THAT I AM CALLING FOR A FEDERAL TAKEOVER OF THIS FILTHY AND CRIME RIDDEN EMBARRASSMENT TO OUR NATION, WHERE MURDERS HAVE JUST SHATTERED THE ALL TIME RECORD, OTHER VIOLENT CRIMES HAVE NEVER NEEN WORSE, AND TOURISTS HAVE FLED. THE FEDERAL TAKEOVER IS VERY UNPOPULAR WITH POTENTIAL AREA JURORS, BUT NECESSARY FOR SAFETY, GREATNESS, & FOR ALL THE WORLD TO SEE!" "THERE IS NO WAY I CAN GET A FAIR TRIAL WITH THE JUDGE 'ASSIGNED' TO THE RIDICULOUS FREEDOM OF SPEECH/FAIR ELECTIONS CASE," the leading Republican candidate continued. "EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS, AND SO DOES SHE! WE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY ASKING FOR RECUSAL OF THIS JUDGE ON VERY POWERFUL GROUNDS, AND LIKEWISE FOR VENUE CHANGE, OUT IF D.C."

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, the Obama-appointed judge assigned to Trump's case, U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan, is known for being the harshest punisher of January 6th defendants, worked alongside Hunter Biden at a law firm in the early 2010s, and has already ruled against Trump in a previous case where she famously wrote, “Presidents are not kings, and Plaintiff is not President."

In addition to requesting a venue change, Trump blasted Jack Smith and the DOJ for bringing the case in the middle of the election season where he would likely have to stand trial during the middle of the general election race.

"DERANGED JACK SMITH AND OUR HIGHLY PARTISAN, AND VERY CORRUPT,  DEPARTMENT OF INJUSTICE, COULD HAVE BROUGHT THIS BIDIN 'OPPONENT' CASE YEARS AGO, BUT CHOSE TO WAIT AND BRING IT RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF MY ELECTION CAMPAIGN," Trump explained. "NO WAY!!! I HOPE YOU ARE WATCHING AMERICA. OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
As President Trump continues to wrangle with the lawfare coming from the DOJ and Democrat attorneys across the country, the move to change the venue and have the judge recuse herself would prove to be beneficial to his defense. However, the chances of a change in venue are slim given Jack Smith's determination to see Trump taken out of the 2024 race.

Irrespective of these legal efforts, the American people are behind President Trump and see what these cases truly are.
