Trump Wins Largest Lead In 'Poll History' As His 2024 Momentum Doesn't Let Up

On Tuesday, a new poll from CNBC showed leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump blow Joe Biden out of the water in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. Trump's lead was so dominant that it was the largest lead that Trump had over the 81-year-old Democrat in the poll's entire history.

The poll, which was conducted from December 8-12 with 1,002 voters, showed Trump had 48 percent support while Biden was down six points at 42 percent. Amongst those polled, 10 percent were still undecided. Trump's lead is growing as Americans turn on the elderly Democrat, with CNBC's poll in October having Trump up only four points with 46 percent to Biden's 42 percent.

Biden's favorability ratings have also been plummetting in recent months, with his numbers for those who have a very positive view of Biden falling from 19 percent in September to 15 percent in December. Those who viewed him somewhat positively also fell from 20 percent to 18 percent. Donald Trump's favorability numbers have remained relatively steady, with 22 percent of voters viewing him very positively and 18 percent viewing him somewhat positively. Trump's negatives have fallen from 44 percent in September to 39 percent in December.

The president's bad news hasn't ended with the CNBC poll, however. A recent Monmouth University survey found that President Biden has a record-low approval for his presidency at only 34 percent, while 61 percent disapprove of his job performance as president.

Biden's poll numbers first shifted to net disapproval after the withdrawal from Afghanistan in September 2021, and after that point, his numbers reached a high of 44 percent in July 2023. This slight boost, however, was short-lived as the percentage of Americans who approved of his job performance shifted down to 38 percent in September and a devastating 34 percent in December.

Biden's most notable failures that led to his record-low approval are generated from immigration (26 percent approve, 69 percent disapprove), inflation (28 percent approve, 68 percent disapprove), climate change (38 percent approve, 54 percent disapprove), jobs (42 percent approve, 53 percent disapprove), and infrastructure (42 percent approve, 52 percent disapprove). Amongst Democrats, the biggest hurdle for Biden is on immigration, with 47 percent disapproving, and on inflation, with 35 percent disapproving of his performance at tackling the issue.

"The Biden administration keeps touting their infrastructure investments and a host of positive economic indicators. Those data points may be factual, but most Americans are still smarting from higher prices caused by post-pandemic inflation. This seems to be what's driving public opinion," Director of Monmouth University Polling Institute Patrick Murray explained. "There is political danger in pushing a message that basically tells people their take on their own situation is wrong."

As President Biden's numbers continue to plummet, Donald Trump only gets stronger. Trump has shown again and again that he can break through his ceiling of support and win over moderate voters who are disenchanted with the Democratic Party. The polling proves that Trump is the favorite to win back the White House in 2024 and Make America Great Again after four disastrous years under Biden.
