Tucker Carlson For Vice President? Former Fox News Host Floated As VP Pick After Departure

On Monday, it was announced that Tucker Carlson will be leaving Fox News. Some conservatives, however, view the departure as an opportunity for Tucker to run alongside the leading 2024 Republican candidate Donald Trump.

“Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” the network said in a statement, according to Forbes.

“We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” Fox continued in its statement. “Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”

In response to the news, conservatives took to Twitter to rally in favor of Carlson with some even floating his name as a potential vice presidential pick for the Republican 2024 candidate.

“Trump should make Tucker his VP candidate,” wrote New York Young Republican Club President Gavin Wax.

“DeSantis camp pushing Tucker to run for President cause it will further divide the party,” Wax continued. “Get him off the air and then get him in the field to muddy waters more.”

“The unifying ticket for 12 years of uninterrupted Republican governance is a Trump/Tucker ticket,” he added.

“Tucker Carlson for VP?” Ryann McEnany wrote in response to the news.

“Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News! I’ve been saying that he has been trying to get fired from there for quite some time now. Why? To potentially run for president,” wrote The Young Turks Cenk Uyger. “And it’s not too late yet for 2024. So, things could get real interesting around here.”

“Cenk may be on to something. Tucker maybe running? There were rumors before about this,” Tim Pool wrote in response.

With many theorizing that Tucker could be vying for a spot on the presidential ticket, it harkens back to a speech Carlson made at Iowa’s Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines in July 2022 that fueled some speculation that he would run for office, as previously reported by the DC Enquirer.

While Carlson has chosen to leave Fox News, his future in the conservative movement is bright. Whether he decides to run for office or find another venue for his show, he will certainly have success in any future endeavor.
