On Saturday, former Democratic presidential candidate and current independent Tulsi Gabbard (I-HI) sent a dire warning to voters in New Hampshire who will be partaking in the first presidential primary of 2024 on Tuesday. Gabbard didn't hold back when discussing former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley (R-SC), the last candidate standing against leading Republican presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination.
"Nikki Haley is no different from Liz Cheney and Hillary Clinton — women who have never served in the military and feel the need to 'prove' how tough they are by always advocating for more war," Gabbard wrote on X/Twitter. "To the voters of New Hampshire, please know that a vote for Haley is a vote for endless and bigger wars." Haley has been repeatedly attacked for her more hawkish foreign policy stances, including advocating for more funding for Ukraine in its fight against Russia, as well as her calls for America to take a tougher stance on Iran and China.
While foreign policy is not top of mind for most Republican voters, it is important to remember Trump's historic victories that delivered peace for the United States during his administration. President Trump was the first president in recent memory not to start a new war while ensuring that American interests were protected overseas. Additionally, Trump brokered numerous agreements with foreign countries on trade and diplomatic relations, including the US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement, the opening of negotiations with North Korea, and the normalization of relations between Israel and various other countries in the Middle East via the Abraham Accords. The choice between Trump and Haley is clear for Granite State voters who care about the country's standing on the international stage.
Haley is the last serious candidate in the race against Trump, which has prompted many to call for her to withdraw from the race, including the 45th president. Trump has called for unity from the Republican Party around his candidacy so that the GOP can be focused on defeating President Joe Biden in November. On the campaign trail, Trump has been joined by former rivals and allies alike. The Republicans who have joined him on the trail in recent days include formal rivals Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND), and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy (R-OH) as well as various supporters such as Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake (R-AZ).
According to Five Thirty Eight, Trump has the support of 53.9 percent of voters in the Granite State, while Haley only has 36.3 percent support. On the national stage, Trump dominates Haley with 67.7 percent support compared to her 12.4 percent. Given these numbers, Haley could drop out after the New Hampshire primary to avoid an embarrassing defeat in her home state of South Carolina, where Trump enjoys over 60 percent support.
