Two-Thirds Of Americans Believe Biden Is Too Old To Serve Another Four Years, Poll Finds

As President Joe Biden seeks a second term as president, his age has taken centerstage on the campaign trail as Americans of every political stripe notice his repeated trips, gaffes, and mumbles. The issue is becoming so dire for the Biden campaign that they have taken extraordinary measures to prevent public embarrassment during Biden's travels. Despite this, a new poll released on Wednesday revealed that a shocking 67 percent of Americans believe the 81-year-old Biden is too old to serve another four years in the White House.

The Quinnipiac survey, conducted from February 15-19 with 1,421 registered voters, found that only 31 percent of voters believed that Biden wasn't too old to fulfill the duties of the most stressful job in the world. Biden, who is already showing considerable decreases in his mental sharpness compared to his days as vice president, would be 86 by the time he completed his second term.

The survey asked respondents whether Biden had the necessary mental and physical fitness to continue in the presidency. Among those polled, 35 percent said that he had the necessary physical fitness, with 62 percent disagreeing, and 34 percent said he had the required mental fitness, with 64 percent disagreeing.

Another poll released earlier this month found similar findings about the president's age. The ABC News/Ipsos survey, conducted from February 9-10, showed that 86 percent of Americans believe Biden is too old to serve another term. Amongst that percentage, 59 percent also said that 45th President Donald Trump, who is 77 years old, is too old to serve another four years.

When broken down by party, 73 percent of Democrats and 91 percent of independents said Biden was too old to serve. For Trump, only 35 percent of Republicans said he was too old. Among independents, a key voting bloc Trump needs to win in November, 71 percent said he was too old to be president again.

Biden's age is a significant problem for Democrats, particularly after it was highlighted by Biden's own Department of Justice following Special Counsel Robert Hur's report on the president's mishandling of classified documents. The report stated that Biden was an "elderly man with a poor memory" who forgot when he was vice president and when his son Beau Biden died. If Democrats are unable to effectively counter the problem of Biden's age, they are going to have a rude awakening in November when Donald Trump wins back Washington.
