Tesla CEO and Twitter owner Elon Musk has begun his training ahead of the potential fight against fellow billionaire and tech mogul Mark Zuckerberg, agreeing to train with UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre.
The fighting star reached out to Musk through his Twitter, writing, “@elonmusk I’m a huge fan of yours and it would be an absolute honor to help you and be your training partner for the challenge against Zuckerberg.”
Musk jumped on the opportunity, replying with “Ok, let’s do it,” along with two fire emojis. A day after the initial exchange, the tech billionaire added that he has already begun practicing and did a sparring round with Lex Fridman, host of the Lex Fridman Podcast.
St-Pierre is a highly accomplished fighter who has held numerous championship positions across weight classes but has been out of the fighting circle since he last competed and won against Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping in 2017. For the 2017 match, St-Pierre came out of retirement and then immediately re-retired following his resounding victory, vacating the belt position.
The bizarre scenario came when Musk replied to another Twitter user claiming that he is “up for a cage match if he is,” prompting Zuckerberg to also agree to do so. Both men seem serious about the plan, making for what could be one of, if not the largest, fight ever seen.
The two tech giants have been sparring about numerous ideas and throwing jabs at one another as owners of rival platforms. Elon Musk is also someone who is firmly against the reckless development of artificial intelligence while Zuckerberg has been one of the foremost developers of the technology.
The match will certainly be an interesting one and everyone will be on their toes until the fight arrives. Who do you have your money on?
