'Undermines Democracy Itself': FCC Complaint Accuses CBS News Of 'News Distortion' After Deceptive Edit Of '60 Minutes' Interview With Kamala Harris

On Wednesday, the Center for American Rights filed a formal complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) against CBS News for their allegedly deceptive editing of Vice President Kamala Harris' "60 Minutes" interview that aired last week. The complaint comes after the Trump campaign repeatedly demanded that CBS release the full interview transcript after it was revealed that the producers removed one of the vice president's embarrassing answers.

The outrage over the "60 Minutes" interview comes after the network aired a preview clip online before the interview aired of Harris' answer on American influence over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. However, when the interview was aired nationwide, the answer was edited differently and excluded the vice president's remarks seen in the preview clip.

"This isn't just about one interview or one network," CAR President Daniel Suhr said in a statement, as reported by Fox News. "This is about the public's trust in the media on critical issues of national security and international relations during one of the most consequential elections of our time. When broadcasters manipulate interviews and distort reality, it undermines democracy itself. The FCC must act swiftly to restore public confidence in our news media."

The CAR complaint to the FCC explains that the federal government agency has mandated that broadcasters not engage in "intentional falsification or suppression of news." The organization argues that CBS News' refusal to release the full transcript of the interview shows their attempt to suppress the interview and hide the vice president's answers from the public.

In response to the complaint, President Trump took to Turth Social to demand the network release a transcript of the interview, something that CBS has done in the past for similar interviews in the past. "Why won't 60 Minutes release the fraudulent tapes of Lyin' Kamala's Interview with them? Could it be because it was a COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER, or that they 'CREATED' many additional new answers for her, not just the one where she was so embarrassingly CAUGHT," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "In normal times, what happened on 60 Minutes, (deceptively 'doctoring' her answers), would be THE END OF ANYONE'S CAMPAIGN! Kamala is slow, incoherent, and is in no way qualified to be President of the United States. RELEASE THE TAPES FOR THE GOOD OF AMERICA. We can do it the nice way, or the hard way!"

"60 MINUTES SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY TAKEN OFF THE AIR - ELECTION INTERFERENCE. CBS SHOULD LOSE ITS LICENSE. THIS IS THE BIGGEST SCANDAL IN BROADCAST HISTORY. Kamala should be investigated and forced off the Campaign, and Joe Biden allowed to take back his rightful place (He got 14 Million Primary Votes, she got none!). THIS WHOLE SORDID AND FRAUDULENT EVENT IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!" Trump added.
