University Professor Faces Consequences After Saying She Was 'Tempted To Shoot Up' Israeli Music Festival Like Hamas

On Monday, Dr. Laura Mullen, Kenan Chair of the Humanities, English & Creative Writing at Wake Forest University, officially resigned from her position after facing significant backlash following posts that defended Hamas' actions on October 7th that resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 Israelis, including hundreds of young people at a music festival in southern Israel.

A few days after the heinous attack by Hamas, Mullen took to X/Tiwtter to write, "So it's kind of a Duh, but if you turn me out of my house plow my olive groves under and confine what's left of my family to the small impoverished state you run as an open air prison I could be tempted to shoot up your dance party yeah even knowing you will scorch the earth." The professor initially defended the post as "raw, direct, [and] poetic, in that it involved imagery," but the backlash was swift, and she ended up deleting the post after a week and locking her account.

Wake Forest initially supported Mullen's freedom of speech but did "not condone or support the views expressed in these posts." In response to the statement, the English professor blasted the university for leaving her out to dry. "[The University statement] is like if you watch animal films and you isolate one gazelle, that's the one that gets eaten. They kind of threw me to the wolves," she told The Wake Report. "I took the tweet down [because] the administration had said that my tweet may be making things harder on the Muslim population."

While the professor claims that some students have come out to support her, she also alleged that she didn't "have any students coming to me and saying, hey, you increased my fear and anxiety." Despite the university refusing to fire her and the supposed support she received from students following her comments, the professor "has resigned for personal reasons." Mullen joins a plethora of other university professors who have vocally sided with Hamas in the conflict, including at various Ivy Leagues across the country.

According to Fox News, a professor at Emory University is no longer employed after saying, "Glory to all resistance fighters." Additionally, a faculty member at Cornell was put on leave after telling a group of students at a protest that he was exhilarated and "energized" by Hamas' actions on October 7th. The ongoing war in Gaza is exposing all of the anti-Semitic radicals in America's colleges, and it will perhaps be a wake-up call to any parent considering sending their child off to be brainwashed.
