'Virtually Abandoned By Kamala': Donald Trump SLAMS Federal Response To North Carolina Following Hurricane Helene Devastation

On Monday, 45th President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to highlight the federal government's lackluster response to Hurricane Helene, particularly in western North Carolina. The Republican presidential candidate explained that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has transferred funds meant for emergency scenarios such as hurricanes to instead provide supplies for illegal immigrants.

"The GREAT people of North Carolina are being stood up by Harris and Biden, who are giving almost all of the FEMA money to Illegal Migrants in what is now considered to be the WORST rescue operation in the history of the U.S. On top of that, Billions of Dollars is going to foreign countries! NORTH CAROLINA HAS BEEN VIRTUALLY ABANDONED BY KAMALA!!!" Trump wrote. "DROP HER LIKE SHE DROPPED YOU - VOTE FOR PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP. MAGA2024!"

As previously reported by the DC Enquirer, Hurricane Helene killed over 220 Americans after devastating large swaths of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Following the disaster, FEMA whistleblowers approached Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to explain that FEMA misappropriated funds, withheld pre-disaster aid, and had hundreds of service members and FEMA employees deployed to the region without orders. The whistleblowers approached Gaetz after Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said last week that FEMA doesn't have enough funds to make it through hurricane season because the agency has spent over a billion dollars aiding illegal immigrants.

"My office has been in contact with whistleblowers in numerous emergency-management functions at the federal, state, and local levels, and they all point to the same critical mismanagement issues. FEMA has wasted taxpayer funds, misappropriated funds, and left other federal, state, and local responders without deployment orders on the ground," Rep. Gaetz wrote in a letter to Mayorkas on Friday. "As reported and further confirmed by my office, hundreds, if not thousands of service members were deployed by the Department of Defense to North Carolina and have sat idle, waiting for FEMA. We have confirmed FEMA employees deployed, on the clock, awaiting orders in hotels. FEMA pre-disaster aid was withheld, exacerbating the emergency. It is also public that NGOs have purchased airline tickets for migrants through the use of FEMA funds."

"The aftermath of Hurricane Helene is a major disaster, and your waste and unpreparedness are leaving Americans in distress - unable to access food, water, or medicine - and expecting help, with none coming," the Florida representative added. As tens of thousands of Americans attempt to recover from the devastation brought about by Hurricane Helene, Floridians are bracing for Hurricane Milton, a Category 5 storm reaching upwards of 175 mph winds, to make landfall.
