'Walz Is A Gift': Republicans Rejoice After Kamala Harris Picks Radical Gov. Tim Walz As Running Mate - 'What A Relief'

After Vice President Kamala Harris selected Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) as her running mate on the Democratic ticket, several political commentators condemned the pick as "political malpractice" given that Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) was seen as a superior pick compared to the Minnesota governor.

"This is the first time [I'm] shocked about a strategic decision of the Dems. Can't imagine why they didn't pick Shapiro who would have been much better for them," Blaze Senior Editor Daniel Horowitz wrote. Trump's former 2016 campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, explaiend that Walz's pick was a "relief" for Team Trump.

"Kamala Harris/Tim Walz is the most radical, far-left ticket in the history of our country," Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley explained. "In 2020, Walz let rioters burn the Twin Cities — then Kamala stepped in to fundraise for their bail and get them back on the streets. This ticket puts criminals ahead of citizens. Donald Trump will put America first."

"Walz is a gift of Providence pick for Kamala's VP," conservative commentator Steve Deace posted to X. "He's a low-name ID approaching retirement age white male. That's not a profile that adds any energy to their racial idolatry coalition, or sluggish youth vote support. Nor does he come with the auto-flip in the Electoral College that Shapiro did. He adds absolutely nothing to this race Kamala doesn't already have. Shapiro was the clearly superior pick, it wasn't even close, and thus this also clearly indicates the Democrats couldn't dare incite the rising antisemitism in their ranks.

"Between much of the Spirit of the Age's lawfare against Trump suddenly falling apart, a miracle near-miss from an assassin leading to an inspiring moment, an economic collapse the Spirit of the Age wasn't planning to unload until after the election suddenly hitting now, and now this uninspiring VP pick -- if I didn't know any better I'd say Providence has really greased the skids for Trump to return to the White House," he wrote. "There is absolutely zero excuse for not winning this now."

"It's not surprising [Kamala Harris] picked Tim Walz to be her running mate — he embodies the same disastrous economic, open-borders, and soft-on-crime policies Harris has inflicted on our country the last four years," GOP Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) wrote about his home state governor. "Walz is an empty suit who has worked to turn Minnesota into Harris' home state of California, and solidifies this ticket's full embrace of a radical, America-last agenda."

While Republicans and conservative commentators largely criticized Harris for her pick, Democrats attempted to block characterizations that the governor is on the left. Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who backed Walz for the VP role, told MSNBC, "To characterize [Tim Walz] as left is so unreal. He's right down the middle. He's a heartland of America Democrat."

As Democrats attempt to praise Harris for her VP selection, most political commentators agree that Gov. Shapiro would have been Vice President Harris's most advantageous electoral choice. Her decision to go with Gov. Walz indicates that the Democratic presidential ticket is leaning into its progressive and far-left tendencies.
