WATCH: Amazon Faces Backlash After Alexa Gives Differing Responses About Voting For Kamala Harris And Donald Trump

On Tuesday, Amazon Alexa owners took to social media to point out that the artificial intelligence service was giving differing answers when asked for reasons to vote for 45th President Donald Trump versus Vice President Kamala Harris. The device explained that it was unable to give political opinions when asked for reasons to vote for Trump, but when asked for an explanation to vote for Harris, Alexa was more than happy to oblige.

Amazon Alexa users posted videos of the interactions online after asking, "Why should I vote for Donald Trump?" and "Why should I vote for Kamala Harris?" In response to the first question, Alexa replied, "I cannot provide content that promotes a specific political party or a specific candidate."

However, when the users asked Alexa the same question about Harris, the Amazon device provided several reasons to vote for the Democrat presidential candidate. "While there are many reasons to vote for Kamala Harris, the most significant may be that she is a strong candidate with a proven track record of accomplishment," Alexa replied. "As the first female vice president, Harris has already broken down a major gender barrier, and her career in politics has been characterized by a commitment to progressive ideals and a focus on helping disenfranchised communities."

The disparity in answers led to a backlash against the company on social media, with TPUSA CEO Charlie Kirk writing, "If this is real, this is wild. Amazon's Alexa is a politically biased hack." Another account argued that the device just mirrors the average Democrat voter. "Alexa is just like the average Democrat. Programmed," MAZE wrote.

"In addition to only listing reasons to vote for Kamala and not Trump, Amazon's Alexa was also claiming Trump wasn't shot at. Jeff Bezos should have to answer for this election interference," LibsOfTikTok wrote on X.

According to Variety, Amazon routinely changes its algorithm, and the company explained in a statement that the situation has been fixed. "This was an error that was quickly fixed," the company said. While the disparity in answers may have been a mistake by the corporate giant, it coincides with a pattern of left-wing bias from Big Tech companies that use their financial power to influence electoral politics. Americans are tired of corporations pushing left-wing talking points, and Amazon Alexa, which recently surpassed over half a billion sales, is no exception.
